June Mystery Pieces Challenge

June Mystery Pieces Challenge

Hello, Friends! Welcome back to Stamping with Buffy. What a crazy week this has been. My younger son Wes, his wife Katelyn, and my sweet granddaughter Amelia are on vacation this week, so they asked if I would take care of their pets while they’re gone. Of course, I said yes. Somehow, I thought it was going to be next week, though. This week was a crazy busy one for me, so why not add a little more on top, right? They have a sweet but active dog, a very mellow cat, and a bunny. The cat is so easy. The dog, of course, has to be let out several times a day, but she’s easy to take care of. The bunny is the sweetest animal I’ve ever seen, but, WOW! Rabbits are a lot of work. He needs chopped veggies every day, and the “by-product” of said veggies is legendary. My brother had rabbits when we were younger, but they were outside animals. I guess I didn’t remember how much they, um, well, you know. He has a little bunny litter box (I did not know these existed) with bunny litter, but apparently, he doesn’t understand what it’s for. But he’s such a sweetheart, it balances out.

I haven’t had much stamping time, but I do have June Mystery Pieces to show you! Here are the pieces Chris sent us.

I LOVE the Metallic Mesh Ribbon and the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper (DSP). Here’s what I did with the “ingredients” Chris sent.

Wonderful World, Biggest Wish, Stampin' Up!

I embossed the Basic White piece with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the Night of Navy card base. Next, I cut a strip of the DSP and layered it over the embossed Basic White after I wrapped a piece of the ribbon around it lengthwise. Next I cut three squares of the DSP and adhered them to slightly larger squares of the Basic Gray Cardstock. I adhered these over the ribbon, then cut three flowers from the Wonderful World DSP (a beautiful Sale-a-bration product with coordinating stamps) and adhered them to the squares with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Before I embossed the Basic White Cardstock, I cut a piece from the area that would be under the flower/card stock/DSP layer. I stamped the sentiment on that with Rich Razzleberry Ink, then die-cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies and layered it to the card. So fun!

By the way – the Beautiful World Stamp Set and DSP are free with a $100 order during Sale-a-bration. But they’re only available while supplies last or through August 31, so order now!

Here are some of the other team members’ cards.

This is Christy’s card. I love how she used the ribbon under the Layering Diorama die-cut area as water. I enjoy seeing products used in a way that isn’t the norm! And I also love how she used the back of the DSP for the sails of the boat. So clever.

This is Nadine’s card. The Nature’s Prints Stamp Set is perfect with the paper, and I love the tied ribbon around the bottom, as well as the Basic Gray triangles in the background and the unexpected partial frame around the Basic White layer that mimics it.

Sandy and Nadine are on the same wavelength this month! She also used the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set, but added a few more die-cuts in neutral colors. (I’m going to guess maybe Crumb Cake or Sahara Sand, but Navy looks like Starry Sky on my laptop, so I could be wrong.) Sandy also tied the ribbon around the “seam” where the two sides of the DSP meet.

Aren’t these great? I love how we come up with totally different ideas using the same products!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a beautiful day!

Mystery Pieces are so much fun! I love how each card comes out so differently but it is funny that two of the participant’s cards were pretty close!
