Hello, Harvest!

Hello, Friends! I can’t believe it’s Friday already, or that August is just around the corner. Where did summer go? I know we still have a month and a half, but it always seems like the end of summer when kids go back to school.

I am happy to report that Wes, Katelyn, and Amelia’s pets are doing well. I spent about an hour this morning playing with them and chopping vegetables for a few bunny meals. I realized it was so quiet, so I turned on some music. As soon as it started, Havana (a.k.a. Bun Bun the Bunny) jumped out of his little run and ran into the bags of bedding, hay, food, and litter. Then he squeezed between the window and his pen before ending up under the bed. Apparently, this bunny isn’t musical.

After I got home, I had so much fun playing with the Hello Harvest Bundle from the Stampin’ Up!® July-December Mini Catalog. I purchased the entire Rustic Harvest Suite Collection. It’s packed with fun goodies – the Hello Harvest Bundle (Hello Harvest Stamp Set and Rustic Pumpkin Dies), Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper (DSP), Leaf Label and Amber Gem Combo Pack, Basic Black 12″ x 12″ Cardstock, and the Embossing Additions Tool Kit. This kit includes a Powder Pal tray, Embossing Buddy, Crafting Tweezers, and Crafting Brush. Here’s the card I made with the Hello Harvest Bundle.

First, I stamped the two end pumpkins in Saddle Brown StazOn on Basic White Cardstock. I should have used Shimmery White or Watercolor Paper, but I wasn’t sure what exactly I was going to do until I was ready to stamp the center pumpkin on another piece of Basic White. Then I remembered that July is World Watercolor Month, so I grabbed a piece of the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and stamped on that in the StazOn.

Next, I simply colored the three pumpkins. I used Pale Papaya, a little Calypso Coral, and Crushed Curry Classic Ink and Water Painters to color the two pumpkins stamped on Basic White Cardstock. For the third, I used Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, and Calypso Coral, and then I die-cut that one. I used Soft Suede for all three stems. To do this, simply squeeze your ink pads between your palms to transfer ink to the stamp case lid. You can add a few drops of ink refill in the lid as well. Then pick the ink up with your Water Painter. If you prefer to use Stampin’ Blends, scribble on a stamp block or other non-porous surface and pick up the ink with the Water Painter.

I added the middle pumpkin to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then stamped some leaves in Cajun Craze and Old Olive Ink under the pumpkins. I sponged a bit of ink under the pumpkins to look like ground.

I am terrible about pulling retired ribbon from my current ribbon box and moving it to my retired ribbon box. Sadly, the one that caught my eye is this Mossy Meadow (I think) twine-y ribbon. It is retired, of course, but I found it before I found the Linen Thread I had planned to use.

I stamped the sentiment in the Saddle Brown StazOn on Crushed Curry Cardstock, then die-cut with the appropriate die. I added a few of the Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gems to the card, but they were a little pale; the Pale Papaya ones kept getting lost in the pumpkins. Easy fix – I took a Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blend and made them a bit darker.

Looking back, I would probably do this on Very Vanilla Carstock next time. I think it would be a little warmer.

Because pumpkins ripen in the fall, I added a little Wink of Stella on them to look like frost. You can see it in person, but on camera, it’s almost invisible. I would love to have Dazzling Diamonds and Dazzling Details back. It was a little more work, but if you like glitter, it was worth it!
