Catching Butterflies
Welcome back, stamping friends! I hope your week is off to a wonderful start. I have another “Amelia” card for you today. When I saw the Catching Butterflies Stamp Set in the Stampin’ Up!® Sale-a-bration brochure, I knew I wanted that to be one of my first free products. It reminded me of a fun afternoon with Amelia last summer.
My mom has a butterfly bush in her front yard. It had attracted hundreds of butterflies, and Amelia had just gotten a new butterfly net. Of course, we had to try to catch a few for fun.
Catching butterflies looks a lot easier than it actually is. Even though we always had around 10-20 butterflies swarming the net at any time, we didn’t catch any. It was fine, though, because we would have let them escape anyway. Amelia, instead, decided to “catch” Mimi (my mom) who was watching us. Amelia got a huge chuckle out of this. I’m not sure about Mimi!
For this card, I decided to use “Amelia colors.” She likes pink, so I colored the little girl’s dress with the Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blends and her hair with Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight. For her skin tone, I used the new Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends. Since Amelia is fairly light skinned, I used the Medium Light Blends.
I colored the butterfly with Magenta Madness and Granny Apple Green. I stamped the sentiment using Basic Gray Classic Ink. I decided to use the Scalloped Contours Dies to cut the Basic White stamped card stock and the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper (DSP) layer. I also added a little Clear Wink of Stella over the butterfly net. I also added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies to the card. These are so cute, and they are self-adhesive, so no glue is needed.
This card is so simple. If you’re a beginner stamper, you can make this much easier by simply cutting Basic White and Misty Moonlight Cardstock instead of using die-cuts. You can also use our fun and easy to use Watercolor Pencils to color the images.
I’m looking forward to warmer weather and seeing the butterflies emerging from cocoons, aren’t you?
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
