Coming Home Color Challenge

Welcome to another challenge with Jackie, Susan, and me. This week we have a color challenge.

How fun is that? I used the Coming Home Bundle from the Stampin’ Up!® August-December Mini Catalog for my card.

I stamped two houses and the trees on Whisper White Cardstock using Smoky Slate Classic Ink. After I diecut them with the Home Together Dies, I colored the images using Smoky Slate, Granny Apple Green, and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends. I also colored the trunk with a Bronze Stampin’ Blend and the houses with Pool Party. We don’t have a Crushed Curry Stampin’ Blend, so I carefully colored the windows using a Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker. I say, “carefully,” because since I stamped in a water based ink (Smoky Slate) using another water based ink (Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker) could cause smearing.

I adhered a 1-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock over a 3″ x 4-1/2″ piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock. I placed the die-cut images on the card stock without adhering, then stamped the sentiment and smoke in Smoky Slate Classic Ink. Because I used the Stamparatus, I could stamp the sentiment (from the Light Me Home Stamp Set) several times to make it darker. Then I adhered the images using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used a 4-1/8″ 5-3/8″ piece of the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper as a background. I adhered it to a Bermuda Bay card base, then I added the panel with the die-cut images.

And now – a quick KUDOS to Susan. She and I both use the same blog platform. Susan, being the organized and amazing woman she is, scheduled weeks of blog posts, because she knew she’d be moving and wouldn’t have time to create or blog. I, however, write my blogs at midnight the night before they post (and the creating process takes place an hour or so before that.)

Several weeks ago, I logged into my site and everything had changed. I almost cried. (I actually blogged about it and talked about the angst I was feeling.) Although I hated the new format, I learned to (sort of) live with it.

Today, Susan texted me. She was scheduling new blogs and hers had also changed. Susan, however, is amazing. I told her the few things I knew to do. Somewhere along the way, she got an error message which took her to a place where she could revert to our “Classic Editor.” I am so happy – and Susan deserves a medal from me. She is my hero for finding this fix.
