Prized Peony Anniversary Card
Hi, Crafters! I hope your week is going well. Mine has been busy so far, but I have a couple quiet days coming up (yay!). Since Mike is so busy with real estate and the electrical contracting company, I’ve taken over the yard work. UGH! I love the exercise, but when I finish mowing, I feel every minute of my 60+ years. We didn’t plant a garden this year, but some cucumbers and tomatoes sprang up anyway. And then there’s the pool, although I’ve always been the caretaker of the pool. Of course, we’re still painting, but I can see daylight at the end of the “condo flip tunnel,” so that’s a very good thing.
Tomorrow is my parents’ 64th wedding anniversary. My parents are truly an inspiration. They’ve been through some very tough times, but they have always worked together to make it through.
This is their anniversary card. It was created for their anniversary, but it can also be used for so many other occasions – birthday, graduation, or any “yay you!” event. I chose the Stampin’ Up!® Prized Peony Stamp Set/Bundle for their anniversary card for a reason, of course. When I was growing up, we had a peony garden in the back yard. It was gorgeous with white and light and dark pink peonies. We always had flowers in our house.
I got the inspiration for this card from Julie Davidson, another Stampin’ Up!® demonstrator. Her layout was a bit different, but I changed the measurements to fit this one.
First, I started with a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Whisper White card base. Then I added a 4″ x 5-1/4″ Basic Black Cardstock layer.
Next, I cut a 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Granny Apple Green, a 1-3/4″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Whisper White, and a 1-3/4″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Magenta Madness In Color Designer Series Paper (DSP). I stamped the sentiment from the So Sentimental Stamp Set on the Whisper White layer using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I filled in the confetti letters using a Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blend, then added the Whisper White and DSP layers to the Basic Black Cardstock. On the right, I adhered a 2-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Granny Apple Green Cardstock.
I stamped the peony on a small piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Calypso Coral Classic Ink. Then I colored it using Magenta Madness and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. I die-cut the image using the Peony Dies (and, yes, you can bundle the Prize Peony Stamp Set and Peony Dies to save 10%), and adhered it to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
This was actually very quick to create. I hope it brings fond memories to Mom and Dad.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Buffy, this is a wonderful anniversary card. I love the coloring and the pink on the stems. I agree about feeling every one of my 60+ years when I do yard work!!

Thanks, Jackie! Dad & Mom liked it, so – yay! And one of my favorite things about winter – no mowing or gardening. Although there is the shoveling part if we have the occasional snow. Now that we have a smaller dog, he needs his paths!

They said, “Thank you!” It was a fun day. Wesley, Amelia, and I visited for a few hours. And, of course, we had to have lunch. Dad always took Mom out for seafood on their anniversary. Since he couldn’t this year, they had crab cakes at home.
