Stamp-Off Friday Sketch Challenge
Happy Friday! Susan, Jackie, & I have a really fun sketch challenge for you this week.
And here’s my card.
I used scraps of the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper (DSP) for the skinny layers. This is one of my favorite papers in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I didn’t quite follow the sketch. Now that I’ve looked at it again, my layers are a little off – but the elements are all there.
I love the stamp set You’ve Got This. The flower is lovely, and so much fun to color with various Stampin’ Up! coloring tools. I was going to use the new Stampin’ Blends, but instead I used Classic Stampin’ Pads with Stamping Sponges and Sponge Daubers. The hardest part was keeping the cat away from the sponges. I think she thinks they’re little mice or something.
First, I stamped the flower in Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Then I used a sponge dauber to color the stem and leaves in Emerald Envy, and sponges to color the flower center (Crushed Curry) and petals (Peekaboo Peach). Since I knew I was going to fussy cut the flower, I didn’t have to be neat with my sponging; everything “outside the lines” was cut out. Of course, I had to add some Clear Wink of Stella to the center of the flower for a little shimmer.
Here’s a happy accident. When I was sponging the center, a little of the Crushed Curry ended up on the petals. After the Peekaboo Peach was sponged over it, it had a really nice highlight.
For the background, I used the crosshatch stamp in Lemon Lime Twist ink on Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock. My sentiment layer (from Paisleys & Posies) and the 2-1/4″ circle are both Peekaboo Peach.
This is definitely an In Color card! I pulled the colors from the Naturally Eclectic DSP.
Take a few minutes to check out Susan’s & Jackie’s blogs. I know they’ve created something fabulous!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Buffy, this is so pretty and as Susan said, elegant. It is more impressive because you cut out that flower and it really elevated the card
