Vineyard Challenge

Vineyard Challenge

I decided to use the Tuscan Vineyard Stamp Set for another challenge, and I found a few pieces that I had stamped earlier but hadn’t used. One of the pieces looked like it would be perfect for the Craft Project Central “Creating Pretty Cards” sketch challenge this month.

The extra element inside the focal image and the centered greeting kind of stumped me for a minute. I don’t do “centered” very often. It’s very symmetrical – and Classical. There’s nothing wrong with that – at all. It’s just that I can’t center. I like to stamp things a little off on purpose. That way it looks like I really meant for something to be crooked or off-center, instead of looking like a mistake.

I persevered, however, and here’s my final card.

Tuscan Vineyard, CPC62, Stampin' Up!

I think the reason I didn’t use the oval image earlier was because it was a little dark. I stamped it on Crumb Cake Cardstock using Jet Black Stazon Ink, then colored with ink pads and Aqua Painters.

When I decided to use it on this card, I wanted to brighten it up a bit, so I used Soft Sky for the background. Since I had colored the mountains behind the vineyard with Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant, I decided to use those colors along with the Soft Sky. Instead of scallops, I used the Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies behind the Elegant Eggplant layer. And that Soft Sky background just looked a little plain. I decided to jazz it up a little by randomly stamping one of the Tuscan Vineyard images in Versamark. It just didn’t show up enough, so I embossed it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder for a serious pop! It gives it interest without detracting from the focal image.

And then there was that added piece on the main image. As my beautiful granddaughter Amelia would say, “Hmmmmmm.” (I think she’s heard that from Grandma too many times.) I decided to stamp the vineyard logo in Elegant Eggplant on Wisteria Wonder and add a 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon banner.

All I needed was a sentiment. I decided to use one of the Mixed Drinks sentiments for this. It just seemed to fit.

So pretty Buffy. The vintage colors look awesome. Also love the oval image in the middle… and the detailed floral die-cuts behind the strip. I laughed when I read your post… I do like to do symmetrical designs. Thanks for using the August sketch.
