Azure Afternoon

Welcome back to Stamping with Buffy! I am happy to share four new colors from Stampin’ Up!® with you today! Well, three new colors and one returning color. (And one won’t be too new; you’ve seen it at least twice before on my blog.)

This card is full of new, returning, carry-over, and retiring products. First, look at that beautiful Azure Afternoon card base! This reminds me of one of my favorite colors from when I started stamping – Ballet Blue. I’d love to compare the two colors, but my Ballet Blue has been gone for a long time. (I’ll bet my mom has some, though. It was one of her favorites too!) Azure Afternoon will be one of the new core colors in the Brights Collection beginning in May. Another color from the Brights Collection on this card is Berry Burst. Berry Burst is a returning In Color that is now the “purple” in the Brights line -up. (If you’re wondering where Gorgeous Grape went, it’s now in the Regals Collection. I’m so happy it’s still with us!) Berry Burst is the color I used for the lady’s hat and belt. The final two new colors on this card are Pebbled Path (the decking material) and Wild Wheat (the wine). If you remember, I also used Wild Wheat for a nacho chip and as a base for a Playing in the Rain card. Wild Wheat and Pebbled Path are two of the 2023-2025 In Colors.

Here are the card details. I stamped the image from the In the Moment Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then colored with Stampin’ Blends. As I mentioned, the hat and belt are colored with Berry Burst, the decking with Pebbled Path, and the wine with Wild Wheat. The lady’s dress is Balmy Blue, and I used some of the Neutrals Blends for her skin and hair.

I backed the stamped layer with Balmy Blue Cardstock, then cut a piece of By the Sea Designer Series Paper (DSP – retiring May 1) to 4″ x 4″ and cut it in half diagonally. I adhered one triangle to the corner of the card base, then added the stamped layer over it. Finally, I stamped the sentiment from In the Moment on the bottom of the card. Since I still have one more DSP triangle, I may stamp a beach card later.

While there are some retiring core colors that I’ll miss, I really do like the new color line-up! I think you will as well. The new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog goes live on May 2.
