You’ve Got Style

You’ve Got Style

One of my favorite card designs is one I got from Christy in a swap. It’s a fun “fun fold” design. There’s a reason they call them “fun fold” cards. This one was really fun, and so simple. Here’s Christy’s card using the Stampin’ Up!® Bunch of Blossoms Stamp Set.

Bunch Of Blossoms, Stampion' Up!

Here’s the one I made using the Stampin’ Up!® You’ve Got Style Stamp Set.

You've Got Style, Stampin' Up!

I love that image. I felt a little like that this weekend. We went from a rainy summer to a rainy fall in one day. I love the chillier weather, though.

Card Details

Here are the card details.

You’ll need three pieces of Whisper White Cardstock:
2-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
3″ x 4-1/4″ for the front panel
5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card base, scored at 4-1/4″

I also have a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ piece of Petal Pink cardstock, but you don’t really need it. I colored my image with Stampin’ Blends, forgetting that they bleed through the Whisper White Cardstock, so I added a layer of Petal Pink behind it.

You’ll need three strips of Designer Series Paper (DSP). I used the Share What You Love Specialty DSP. The frost side plays into the chilly atmosphere of the card. Here are the measurements:

(2) 1-3/4″ x 4-1/4″
(1) 2-1/4″ x 4-1/4″

You’ll see when the card is open that I have yet another layer of DSP (3-1/2″ x 5″) on the inside of the card. This is for more Stampin’ Blends cover up.

Back to the front of the card. I used Petal Pink, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, and Mango Melody to color the image. I added a bit of Fine Tip Glue to the bubbles and her earrings, then sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. Then I added more Fine Tip Glue to her glasses to make them look more real.

To pull in the Tranquil Tide from the DSP, I sponged a little Tranquil Tide on the edges of the panel. (Ok – a lot of sponging. I got a little carried away.) And for a bit more “frost,” I added some of the new Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets from the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog.

Card Assembly

On the front of the card base, add the two 1-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ DSP strips to the top and bottom of the card base, leaving a gap in the center.

Stampin' Up!, You've Got Style

You can add a sentiment, an image or both in the center space.  Place the 2-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Whisper White strip inside the card. Test for placement before you use any adhesive. The strip should close over the front of the card, so be sure the score is at the edge of the card (or maybe a smidge past).

Adhere the final piece of DSP to the front part of the flap, then stamp a sentiment on the inside. You’re really going to want to test your cardstock placement before you stamp and glue the DSP, because it can be very counter-intuitive.

Stampin' Up!, You've Got Style

The extra piece of DSP on the inside is not essential. When I colored the kitty, it bled through a little, and that bothered me. I looked like a dirt smudge.

The final step is to adhere the stamped 3″ x 4-1/4″ piece to the front of the card. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals, but whatever adhesive you use, be sure it’s  only on the front flap and behind the stamped layer. You don’t want to glue the card closed!

Here’s another look at the card front.

Stampin' Up!, You've Got Style

It may seem like there are a lot of steps to this card, but it’s really quite simple. I made this one in about 15 minutes. If you’re making multiples, it goes fast if you have all the DSP and cardstock cut ahead of time. Then use the Stamparatus for all the images and sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
