Butterfly Notes

Butterfly Notes

While I was playing with Brusho and Foil Sheets, I decided to die-cut a few with the new Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies from the new 2018-19 Stampin’ Up! Catalog. The butterfly was very delicate and lovely, but the Brusho background just didn’t show up as well as I wanted.

I decided to spritz it a bit and add more Brusho to the die cut butterflies. Here’s the thing about Brusho: it reacts with water, and the foil sheets are non-porous. When I spritzed the butterflies, the Brusho crystals were reactivated, and a lot of the color slipped through the cut out areas of the butterflies. Oops. Still, I added a little more Brusho to the wet foil and let it dry. It turned out ok, but not quite what I had envisioned.

Here’s a peek at one of the butterflies on a card.

Sheet Music, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

I stamped the Sheet Music Background Stamp on Soft Seafoam Cardstock (this is a new color in the 2018-19 Color Palette) with Mint Macaron ink (a returning In Color). The ink was a tad darker than I thought, so stamping the sentiment over the music wasn’t going to work.

*light bulb* I had also preordered the Stitched Labels Framelits Dies, so I embossed the Sentiment from Flourishing Phrases in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, then die-cut with one of the label framelits. The butterfly seemed to need something to hang onto, but I didn’t want to add too much “bulk” to the card or take away from the butterfly and sentiment. The Springtime Impressions Thinlits also include a little flower and a lovely corner die, so I used the corner die with more vellum for kind of a trellis for the butterfly.I added it to a Mint Macaron card base for a delicate, feminine card.

The Stitched Labels Framelits and the Springtime Impressions Thinlits, as well as the Soft Seafoam and Mint Macaron cardstock and ink will be available June 1. The Sheet Music stamp, the Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set, and, of course, the Vellum, Brusho, and Gold Foil Sheets are available now and will be carrying over to the new catalog.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
