Stamp-Off Friday Technique Challenge

Stamp-Off Friday Technique Challenge

It’s Friday and time for another challenge with Buffy, Jackie, & Susan! This week, we have a technique challenge for you. It’s a “faux sketched” challenge.

Sketch Challenge, Stampin' Up!, Weather Together

The idea of the Faux Sketch is to make it look like a sketched image. There are lots of ways to do this. You can use Smoky Slate Classic or Basic Gray Archival ink. If you have watercolor pencils, you can “ink” the stamp with a gray watercolor pencil. Simply spritz the stamp with water, then rub the pencil over the stamp until it’s covered with “ink.”

Of course, you can ink some images with Basic Black or StazOn ink and color them in to add a little color to your project. In the banner, some “swooshes” of color were added as well as the watercolored flower.

So, without further blathering or ado, here’s my project for the challenge.

Weather Together, Stampin' Up!

For this card, I stamped the umbrella, clouds and raindrops from Weather Together in Basic Gray and Smoky Slate ink. (I stamped off one time with the Basic Gray ink.) On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock, I stamped the umbrella and handle and die-cut them with the coordinating Umbrella Weather Framelits (bundle and save 10%). Then I colored the umbrella with rainbow colors (Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Pacific Point, Elegant Eggplant = ROY G BV) and added it to the card over the handle.  The handle is colored in Smoky Slate and Basic Black – and if you really want it to look good, add some clear Wink of Stella to the handle.

I wanted the raindrops to be more than just gray raindrops, so I die-cut a few from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. Then I added them to the card with a Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

The Washi Tape is retired, I’m sure. It was just sitting there on my stamp table and looked like it belonged on the card, so I added it.

Give this technique a try. It’s a lot of fun, and there are lots of Stampin’ Up! stamps that work well with it. I have a Fairy Celebration card that I love. I’ll post it soon!

Check out what Susan and Jackie created before you log off your computer today. They’re so amazing and talented, and I know they have something fabulous for you to look at. If you create a project with this technique, please send it to one of us. We’ll be happy to showcase it on our blogs!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
