Timeless Dreams

I’m trying to decide if I want to swap at Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live this month. Swapping is a fun way to get lots of new and creative ideas. But I usually bring all my swaps home, put them in a box, and never look at them again. Sad, right? And the activity itself is very frenetic. You’re trying to hold a bag of your swaps while receiving new ones from someone else, and it gets a little crazy. I usually end up with several of the same card, because I forget what I have already received. I don’t find it relaxing at all. I’d rather just take photos of cards I like.

However, if I do decide to swap, this is one of my options.

Timeless Textures, Picture Perfect, Papillon Potpourri

Being the impatient one that I am, I didn’t wait for the spritzed panel to dry completely before adhering to the card, so it’s a tad buckled. My swaps, however, won’t be.

I love the look of this card. The background is very soft and ethereal, and it looks like the butterfly is popping out of the fog, don’t you think? And it uses three colors that aren’t my favorites, but they work so well, they’re making me warm up to them.

Here are the details. First, I stamped the floral image from Timeless Textures in Versamark over the bottom and left edges of a Very Vanilla layer. Then I embossed with clear powder and spritzed with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and Mint Macaron ink refill.

The butterfly from Papillon Potpourri is stamped in Watermelon Wonder ink on So Saffron card stock. I spritzed the stamp just a tiny bit before I stamped so the butterfly would be a little smudged.

Finally, I stamped the “dream” sentiment from Picture Perfect on Whisper White in Watermelon Wonder and added it under the butterfly. (Is that just the best sentiment ever?) Oh – there’s some Gold Metallic Thread wrapped around the spritzed layer as well. Then it’s all layered to a Mint Macaron card. Easy!

I have a couple other options, but I know at least one of the sets on this card will not be retiring. That’s another problem with swaps. You never know if the stamps and accessories you use will still be current after the new catalog comes out. Stampin’ up! gave us a few hints this year, though.

I’m off to get ready for a little visitor. Miss Amelia will be spending the night tonight! Sadly, she’ll probably get here while I’m at rehearsal, and she’ll probably be asleep when I get home. But I’ll have her all day tomorrow starting bright and early!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!

Beautiful card. I would love to swap one. My swapping advice is to make a few swaps. I sort of felt left out and out of sorts when I didn’t swap at all, and hated the busy-ness of swapping a lot. So make “too few” swaps – and, of course, don’t bother to look at what you are swapping for. Take photos of the great cards like usual.

Awwww – thanks, Darrah. Good advice. I MISS YOU! I’m thinking 15 might be a good number. I think I can get those done!
