Break out the Red & Pink!

I had so much fun stamping today.  Yesterday I went to Target and bought a bunch of the little mailboxes for the Valentine Stamp Camp (January 11, 3:00  Visit my web site for more info!), and today I covered one and made some Valentines to go in it.   Before you look, though, here's a quick story.

I was searching the disk to download the pictures to my computer, when I saw a bunch of pictures like this.  NOTE:  This is not for the squeamish!!!

Anyone who knows me will understand that it is a tribute to my love for these nutty children that I haven't kicked them and this creature out of my house!  I mean, the first time Mike & I saw evidence of a mouse in our house, I was ready to move out.  "It can have the house.  We'll start over!"  Fortunately, Mike was more calm and level headed and got rid of the creature.

So that link is a picture of Thomas on Ali's shoulder.  There were pictures of Thomas in Ali's hands, Thomas cuddled up to Ali's heart, Thomas crawling down Ali's shirt.  I was so flummoxed by all those pictures of a rat in my house (even though, I have to admit, it is cute.  But still….it's a rat!), I somehow lost all but one of my mailbox pictures and had to go back and re-snap them.  They were a little blurry anyway, though.  (Have I mentioned that I absolutely hate Vista???  Those goobers who go house to house trying to convince people it's wonderful had better stay away from me!)

Here's my mailbox.  We'll be making these at the Valentine Stamp Camp January 11, so sign up quickly!  I have a very limited supply.  All ages are welcome, but children under 8 must have a parent stamping with them.  The cost of the camp is $10, and I need your RSVP by January 5.

Isn't this cute?  It uses everything in the Love You Much Valentine bundle – the Candy Lane Designer Series Paper, Heart to Heart punch (you can barely see them on the flag), and the Love You Much stamp set.  The other side of the flag has the two little birds.  The paper covering the mailbox is Pink Pirouette with a small dotted Swiss pattern.

But look what's on the bottom of the sheet….

Isn't that cute?  And it works perfectly on the mailbox.

I made several 3×3" Valentines to put in the box.  Here are a couple.  They are a bit blurry (ok, a little more than "a bit!"  I'm not a photographer.) – but I'll scan and add them later.

This one was not my favorite, and it gave me a lot of trouble.  But my new motto is, "When in doubt, add glitter!"

It's really hard to see beyond the blur, but I stamped the big heart image and the scallop circle on Very Vanilla with Riding Hood Red ink, then sponged Pink Pirouette on the image.

Then I punched a 1" circle from the heart and stuck that to the center of the scallop.  I didn't like it.  I punched the dots out of each scallop.  Still didn't like it.  Then I added the rhinestone brad.  Ok, but…..

I added glitter to the edges of the scallop and to the flowers.  Now I'm happy.  The bottom is the center part of the scallop (again stamped in Riding Hood Red and sponged with Pink Pirouette) layered to a DSP designer label punch and a 1 3/8" RHR circle.

Here are the supplies for the projects.

Stamps:  Love You Much
Ink:  Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Close to Cocoa, Basic Brown classic pads and markers
Paper:  Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla, Candy Lane DSP
Accessories:  Chocolate Chip narrow grosgrain ribbon; Very Vanilla wide grosgrain ribbon;, Stampin' Dimensionals; 2-way glue pen; Punches – scallop circle, 1" circle, corner rounder, 1 3/8" circle, designer label; Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, stampin' sponges, Aqua Painter, Blender pen, Tombow Multi adhesive, mini glue dots, sticky strip, white gel pen

I'm off to add some glitter to the mailbox.  After looking at it again, I think it needs a little on the front.  And maybe on the flag….

Have a wonderful New Year!  I'm staying in where it's warm tonight.  Maybe I'll check out a few splitcoast challenges!

Sign me up, I love that mailbox! I’ll have to make a run to Target and get a couple. Can you just see the jealousy when MY grandkids have little mailboxes for their valentines and their friends DON’T??? They are sooo cute — the mailboxes. The grandkids are too, but we’re talking about crafting now. Hope you had fun with the SCS challenges. Our last party is over and now, FINALLY, I can get back to my craft table, not the food table. And don’t ask me to cook another thing — at least for a day or two!

You’re so right!!! The mailbox is perfect for my granddaughter! 🙂 I can’t make it to the workshop, but I’m going to follow the instructions to the best of my ability (OK, it’s questionable).
I’m also in complete agreement that it’s time to get out of the kitchen and back away from the food table! Our last party was Friday, and I’ve just finished cleaning up (it was a doozy). Now I just need to stamp a million thank-you’s and then hit the valentines! Sounds like sooo much fun!
Buffy, when are you coming over? 🙂
