You’ve (Still) Got This

You’ve (Still) Got This

I love the You’ve Got This stamp set from Stampin’ Up!. Sadly, it will be retiring May 31, so if you’ve been looking at it and wanting to order it, do so quickly before it’s gone forever. Oh, I know…a lot of stampers say, “I’ll just wait until Donna Demonstrator sells hers at her catalog kick-off party and save a little money.” If Donna Demonstrator is anything like me, you’ll have to wait a long time. I’m keeping mine, even though it’s retiring. I love the crosshatch background, the flower, and the sayings.

Ok – there is one thing about the saying (maybe two). First, I always want to say, “You have this!” That “got” in there is really not necessary, although, “You’ve this!” is a little weird. The second thing is every time I hear, “You’ve got this!” I start singing one of the songs from My Little Pony the Movie. Since it’s one of Amelia’s favorite movies (and mine as well), I’ve heard “We Got this Together” many, many, many times. (Again, it’s a cute song, so I won’t get into the grammar right now.) If you’d like it running through your head many times a day, here’s a link to the song.

My friend Jackie posted a card yesterday (or maybe today; I’m a little behind) using the most striking color combination – Mango Melody and Poppy Parade. Mango Melody is one of the colors that will be introduced into the Stampin’ Up! color palette June 1. It’s a beautiful yellow-orange. And, of course, Poppy Parade is my favorite red. It was an In Color a few years ago, and now it’s back to join the core colors. Yay!

The combination reminds me of the sunsets Susan posts. She and her husband have a summer lake cottage, and she posts sunsets quite often. I love sunsets, and Susan’s are spectacular. I always look forward to seeing them on Facebook.

I had to use Jackie’s color combination on a card today.

You've Got This, Stampin' Up!

I inked the crosshatch pattern with Mango Melody and Poppy Parade and stamped on Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the flower in Jet Black Stazon, then colored it with Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, and Granny Apple Green – another new color for 2018-19 (and hopefully longer!) – and cut it out. Again, Granny Apple Green reminds me of a My Little Pony character, but I digress.

I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento. When I ordered You’ve Got This, it must have been a free incentive, because it’s on wood blocks. BS (before Stamparatus), I always got free sets on wood blocks. This practice of mine will probably end AS (after Stamparatus) since the wood blocks don’t work so well in it. Instead of using the Stamparatus, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig and got very satisfactory results. I was pleased, because I had to stamp it several times to get it dark enough to be seen over the Poppy Parade.

After adding a bit of adhesive on the back of the flower, I tousled some Copper Metallic Thread and embedded it into the adhesive. Then I added some Stampin’ Dimensionals and popped it onto the Whisper White layer. The corner rounding and floral edges were punched with the Detailed Trio Punch, which demonstrators could order in May. Everyone else can order it beginning June 1. Besides the flower punch and corner rounder, there’s a small oval for making tags. So fun!

Be sure you order your “have to have them!” items from the 2017-18 catalog now. Retiring stamp sets are only guaranteed to be available until today (May 25); all other retiring products are while supplies last.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a beautiful day!

This card is gorgeous! I love the colors you used. It does remind me of my sunsets. By the way, I am not clicking on your song link. I already have Madelyn’s songs in my head. I don’t need anymore. 😉

Thanks, Susan. And, oh, come one. You know you want to hear it! (Amelia likes to play the songs and act them out. Funny.) I still hear the “Clean Up Song” every time I straighten the house.

This is amazing Buffy. Your use of fussy cutting really created a striking color relationship between the flower and the background. Just lovely!
