One of the products in the new Stampin’ Up!® Occasions Catalog is a spiral flower die for the Sizzix® Big Shot. Since it’s one of the “Bigz” dies, it can cut materials besides paper – metal, felt, burlap, fabric, and lots more. And it can cut several layers at once. If you’re a little on the impatient side (like me!), that’s a huge plus.
I ran several layers of retired Spice Cake Designer fabric (available on the Clearance Rack for only $3.99!) through my Big Shot with the die. It cut perfect scalloped spirals. I used a little fabric stiffener on each spiral, then let them dry before coiling. I was in a hurry to see if this would work, so my first efforts aren’t the best. Apparently, my glue gun got away from me, and the center of the flower is a little tighter than I like. But, all in all, I’m pleased. I glued this one to a pin back, and will probably wear it tomorrow to lunch with my sister-in-law. In person, the glue glob is almost invisible. (The camera, sadly, sees all – wayward glue, lumpy hips, facial blemishes…Isn’t it good that we don’t have to be perfect?)
You can order from the Occasions catalog now! If you’d like a paper copy to look at and hold in your hands, let me know and I’ll send you one. There are so many fun, new products, and I can’t wait to try as many as I can. I love creating “from scratch,” but when my schedule gets a little crazy, the new kits are a huge help. We have kits for party prep, home decor, gorgeous cards and even scrapbooks – and more! You have to check it out.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a beautiful day! (We’re actually seeing double digit temps! Wooot!! Heat wave.)
Love that pin. How many layers did you use on the pin?

I just used one layer for the pin. I cut 4 layers, but the other three are sitting on my stamp table, waiting to be turned into something. Maybe matching earrings…
