Cheerful Daisies
Happy Monday! I hope all the moms out there – bio moms, step moms, foster moms, dog or cat (or bunny) moms, grandmoms, aunts and cousins who are like moms, and all other mom figures – had a wonderful and relaxing Mother’s Day. All the kids, Mom, and my niece were here for dinner. It was lovely, except that Amelia wasn’t feeling well and hung out on the couch all day. Allergies in our area are awful and they do take their toll on all of us!
I finally had a chance to play with one of the new stamp sets I ordered from Stampin’
Up!®. The Cheerful Daisies Bundle is so fun. There are, of course, dies to cut out the stamped images, but there are also other dies. One cuts out three daisies and leaves – all at once! I used that one for my mom’s Mother’s Day card. Today’s card, though, uses stamped images and coordinating dies.
This is one of the cards we made for May classes. First, I stamped the flower outlines on Basic White Cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, the stamp the inside in Bubble Bath Ink. Bubble Bath is a brand new color for 2023, and I must say, it’s really pink. I like it, though. It doesn’t have yellow undertones like some pinks do, and it’s lovely. The flower centers are Wild Wheat (a 2023-25 In Color). I used a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic White Cardstock to stamp all the flowers and the leaves (in Granny Apple Green), then die-cut them with the coordinating dies.
On a 1-3/4″ by 5″ Basic White strip, I stamped the three flower cluster in Bubble Bath and Highland Heather Ink. Then I embossed with the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder and adhered it to a 2″ x 5″ piece of Basic Black Cardstock. I aligned the Basic White strip with the top and bottom of the Basic Black piece, leaving a border on the sides. when I added it to the 3-3/4″ x 5″ Basic White layer, the Basic Black met at the edge, but still looks like there’s a border at the top and bottom, yet it doesn’t add bulk.
Before I adhered the 4″ x 5-1/2″ Basic Black piece to the Bubble Bath card base, I die-cut two stems from the center of the Basic Black. I added the die-cut flowers, leaves, and stems to the Basic White layer, then adhered it to the Basic Black layer and Bubble Bath card base. (Doing this is much simpler than it sounds when you’re reading it!)
I colored some Pearl Basic Jewels with a Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blend and added them to the card. The Basic Pearls are retired, but there are so many other pearls available – Festive, Iridescent, Flat and In Color. You’ll notice that I did not add a sentiment. I usually do, and then when I look through my “card stash,” I find the perfect birthday card – but it has a “Thank You” sentiment. So frustrating. I decided to just wait and see what I need the card for and then stamp the sentiment. I also have a sectioned box that I may use to store various sentiment tags in. Then I can just grab what I need.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
