April Mystery Pieces

April Mystery Pieces

Welcome back, friends! Now that May is here, I can show you our Mystery Pieces cards from April. As always, I forgot to take a photo of the pieces and it’s been awhile since I made my card. The pieces were from Nadine, and she sent them early (in March, I think) due to travels. But looking at the photos, I am fairly certain that we received Melon Mambo Cardstock, Fitting Florets Designer Series Paper (DSP), Balmy Blue Cardstock, and Balmy Blue and White Variegated Ribbon.

Here’s Nadine’s card.

And here’s a picture of it open.

It’s a super cute “Z-Fold” and Nadine used the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set and coordinating dies. So fun! And, since the inside of the card is covered with the gorgeous DSP, she even added a piece of Basic White Cardstock to write a note and sign it.

This is Christy’s Card. She used both sides of the DSP, and I love how she used the ribbon! Very clever and creative.

And here’s my card.

Framed Florets, Stampin' Up!

I cut the DSP into three 1-1/4″ pieces, then layered them to the card base – alternating sides. I stamped the flowers and leaves onto another DSP – that has since retired – using Basic Gray Ink, then diecut with the Framed Florets Dies. Next, I stamped the double-flower image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto Basic White Cardstock, colored with Stampin’ Blends, and die-cut them.

Setting all the flowers and leaves aside, I die-cut the frame from the Balmy Blue Cardstock and stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy Ink. I added the frame to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then added the die-cut flowers around it.

Finally, I tied a bow, but it just didn’t look right to me. It was just a little too perfect with the “shabby chic” faded DSP flowers. I used a heat tool to melt the ribbon a little bit, being careful not to burn it. (Yes, I have done that before, in case you’re wondering.) I love the way the ribbon crinkled up. When I was happy with the way it looked, I added it to the card with Glue Dots.

Some of our Challenge Team Members have had health and life issues, so their cards will be a little late. That means we’ll be able to keep enjoying this set of pieces until they’re all in!

Although they were current when we created our cards, the Framed Florets and Dies and Fitting Florets DSP have now retired. All of the cardstock, ink, and ribbon are still current, however, so you have lots of creative possibilities.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
