Enjoy the Journey

Welcome back to Stamping with Buffy! Did you ever order something and think, “hmm,” wondering why you ordered it? I’ve done that several times recently, but I realized there must have been a reason. One such purchase was the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Stampin’ Up!® January-April Mini Catalog. I am so glad I ordered it, because I love it! It has a lot of my favorite colors, and it goes really well with the Picturesque Stamp Set! (That’s not what I used with it today, though.)

Several of my friends and I are in a monthly swap. We send each other a card each month – any theme, any design. This month, I received one from Margo that was a cute fun-fold and kind of the same design as this one – except she used birds and a nest. And mine isn’t the fun-fold.

Using a Garden Green card base, I die-cut the trees from the front using the Grove Dies from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog. These are part of the Grassy Grove Bundle (Grassy Grove Stamp Set/Grove Dies) and this bundle is perfect for masculine cards or cards for nature lovers!

After I die-cut the front of the cards, I backed it with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the Enjoy the Journey DSP. Instead of doing a “card in a card” like Margo’s fun-fold, I adhered the DSP to the inside front of the card. Not only is the DSP design perfect with the die-cuts, by adhering it to the inside front, you can see the other side of the DSP as well.

I used the Grove Dies to die-cut the two deer from Soft Suede Cardstock and then added them to the forest. I wasn’t sure who I was going to send it to or for what occasion, so I haven’t added a sentiment yet. But it did need something so I tied some Linen Thread around the front.

This card was super simple and quick to create. These days, I need simple and quick!
