Daffodil Daydream Color Challenge
Welcome back to Stamping with Buffy! Every month, our local demonstrators have a challenge to create for the next month’s meeting. Our challenge for February is a color challenge, and this was so much fun! The colors are Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, and Starry Sky. I had so much fun with this card.
I have a confession – which isn’t a secret. I’m a Designer Series Paper (DSP) hoarder. I save it because I hate to cut it and use it up. Then it retires and I give it away, so I don’t get to use it anyway. I’m trying to break this habit, so while there is DSP on this card, it may not be where you think.
The Starry Sky background is not the DSP. I spritzed some Watercolor Paper with Starry Sky Ink Refill and rubbing alcohol, then sprinkled a little sea salt over the wet paper. The salt gave just a hint of texture, and by spritzing instead of blending, I got the uneven color I was going for.
After it dried (and, of course, I helped it along with my heat tool), I dusted off the salt, then adhered this piece to Daffodil Delight Cardstock, and then to the Dainty Flowers DSP that I got free with a $50 order during Stampin’ Up!® Sale-a-bration. The card base is Granny Apple Green.
Next I die-cut the flowers and stems using the Daffodils Dies and Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, and So Saffron Cardstock. The top “detailed” layers are in the darker yellows and the base of the flowers uses the lighter yellows.
My sentiment is a stamp from the Something Fancy Bundle. There’s a die in the bundle that’s perfect for this, but I used the Double Oval Punch instead. I stamped in Starry Sky on Basic White Cardstock, then layered the smaller punched sentiment to the larger Starry Sky scalloped oval.
I decided I needed some embellishments, so I added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies. Who else is ready for spring?
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

This is very pretty, Buffy. I love your background. You are a patient person cutting out all those daffodil parts!

Thanks, Susan! I had fun with the background. The cutting wasn’t too bad, but the layering took a steadier hand than I had that day!!
