Picturesque Sunrise

Picturesque Sunrise

Welcome back to Stamping with Buffy! Have you ever ordered something you really loved, but when it got to you, you went, “hmmmm. I wonder what it was about this that caught my eye.” That happened to me when my Stampin’ Up!® order from the January-April Mini Catalog with the Picturesque Stamp Set arrived. I didn’t remember ordering it, but I was sure there was a reason. It may have been one of the sentiments. There are a couple sentiments in the set that resonate with me.

I pulled it out the other day and had so much fun playing with it. The first thing I realized was that all three of the larger stamps “fit together” to create a beautiful scene.

Stampin' Up!, Stampin' Up! January-April Mini Catalog, Picturesque

Isn’t that a fun sunrise? I used my Stamparatus, of course, to fit the pieces together. First, I stamped the large trees in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then added the smaller ones in Mossy Meadow Ink. I stamped the sunrise using Tahitian Tide, Crushed Curry, and Calypso Coral Ink. And as hard as I tried to keep everything lined up, I still had a few blank spots, so I filled them in with the appropriate colors of Stampin’ Write Markers. I love how Stampin’ Up!® colors coordinate!

Finally, I added the birds in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and the sentiment in Calypso Coral. I adhered this piece to a Mossy Meadow Cardstock layer.

For the background, I wanted some Designer Series Paper (DSP). I looked through all my “stash,” and decided on this piece from the Dainty Flowers 12″ x 12″ DSP in the Sale-a-bration brochure. This paper is awesome!  – and it’s free with any $50 order through February 28 (or while supplies last). It’s beautiful and it’s very popular, so don’t miss out; place your order soon to avoid disappointment.

My card base is Mossy Meadow, and I added a few Iridescent Pastel Gems in sunrise colors.

I am so glad I ordered this set – even if it was by accident! I’m going to have a lot of fun with it.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

  3. I really like this! If you felt especially creative, you could make your own starry night background, a la van Gogh! The foreground trees are perfect for that 🙂

Thank you, Deborah! Your starry night idea is fabulous! I’m not sure I am clever enough to pull it off, but I will try. (And I might hide it under several layers of trash if it doesn’t turn out.)
