Soft Seedlings

Soft Seedlings

Happy Wednesday, Stamping Friends! I hope you were able to take advantage of the free shipping promotion from Stampin’ Up!® I ordered the new Fitting Florets Collection, the new Birthday Card Organizer Kit and a few other things.

You may think I showed you this card on Monday, but I didn’t. I had a few card packs left over from the World Card Making Day (WCMD) event, so I decided to use them with a different stamp set. Here’s the one from WCMD using the Warm Welcome Bundle.

So cute – and I love the Mint Macaron/Fresh Freesia color combination! Here’s my “re-made” one.

Soft Seedlings, Stampin' Up!, Warm Welcome

I haven’t played with the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set as much as I would have liked, but I love the “softness” of the leaves and seed pods. I used all but a few pieces from the original card. I stamped the leaves in Mint Macaron and the “seedlings” in Fresh Freesia Classic Ink on the Basic White Cardstock layer. Fun story – we called those seed pods “helicopters” when we were kids. If you throw them in the air, they twirl and descend slowly – looking a bit like a helicopter.

I had re-inked my stamp pads before the event on Oct. 1, so my original leaves were a little too dark in places. I wanted a much softer look, so I decided to blend the ink on the stamps with a Blending Brush. First, I inked with a stamp pad, then I used a brush to spread the ink over the stamp and add just a bit more ink to the lighter areas.

I stamped the Mint Macaron strip with a sentiment from the Warm Welcome Stamp Set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then trimmed to create a banner. I tied the Linen Thread into a bow, then added it to the sentiment tag with a Mini Glue Dot.

The Basic White stamped layer looked a little lonely on the Fresh Freesia card base, so I trimmed it to 3″ x 4″ (the original was 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″), then layered it to a slightly larger piece of Mint Macaron Cardstock. I added both layers to the Fresh Freesia card base, then attached the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the final touch, I colored some Iridescent Pearl Jewels with Fresh Freesia and Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends, then added them to the card.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

  2. Both cards are lovely, but my favourite is the one with the coffee mugs! Like you, Buffy, my day doesn’t start without coffee -and it’s always a good day to have coffee with friends (but after my morning coffee, you know?)
