Birthday in Paradise
Welcome back, crafty friends! If you weren’t expecting a Thursday post and missed seeing all the great deals Stampin’ Up!® is offering in September be sure to check it out!
When I was looking at my Paper Pumpkin “extras” the other day, I thought one of the designs looked like a sunset. In case you missed it, when I got my August Paper Pumpkin Kit, I noticed that the fronts and backs of the cards as well as the envelopes were printed with gorgeous watercolor designs. I cut all of them up to make nine cards like the kit suggested (except that I needed to add them to card bases) and 18 more using the backs and envelopes. I probably could have gotten more from the envelopes, but I didn’t want to be overwhelmed and end up storing the scraps for several years and then throwing them away. You can see my original 10 (nine Paper Pumpkin and one of my own) here.
I used the Paradise Palms Bundle from the 2022-2023 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog for this card.
The beautiful colors were already on the card, but wouldn’t it be lovely to see that sunset under a palm tree or on a warm, tropical beach? I thought so too, so I die-cut the tree and ground using the Palms Dies (part of the Paradise Palms Bundle) from Basic Black Cardstock. Then I added the birthday greeting from the Paradise Palms Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
I added some lovely black adhesive backed sequins to the card, but then realized they are not current. To quote Brittney Spears, “Oops, I did it again!” Still, I like the way then look, but if you don’t have any, you can easily use any other embellishment, including the Classic Matte Dots – which just happen to be on Weekly Deals through Wednesday, September 7. These are wonderful little embellishments, because, not only do they add an extra something to your project, you can color the White and Vanilla ones with Stampin’ Blends to coordinate with any project.
I added this layer to a Basic Black card base, then added some Basic White Cardstock inside so I can add a note and another fun image.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day – and if you’re celebrating a long Labor Day Weekend, be safe!
