Artistically Masked
Happy Monday, my friends! I’ve been playing with masks the past few days, and I’ve been having so much fun. I made a card for a dear friend which I didn’t photograph, but it was my favorite of all my samples. Usually if I make a card specifically for a friend’s or family member’s birthday, I don’t blog it. But I do usually post an alternative. So here’s the alternative.
Susan’s card was so much cooler (I guess you’ll have to take my word on that!), but I do like this one. I wish I had embossed the Basic White background before I added the die-cuts, though.
So to make this card, I first die-cut the flower, leaves, and flower centers from Basic White Cardstock three times using the Artistic Dies and Basic White Cardstock. Then I die-cut them one more time from “sticky notes” to make masks. I placed the template (one of the Basic White pieces that I die-cut everything from) in my Stamparatus, then placed the appropriate stamp from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set in the negative spaces. Then I closed the platform to attach the stamp.
I placed one of the die-cut flowers into the negative space in the template in my Stamparatus. Then I cut one of the flower die-cut sticky notes in half and placed one half on the flower die-cut in my Stamparatus. I inked my stamp, then stamped onto the die-cut. After I switched masks, I inked the stamp in a different color and stamped again. I used this process for all three flowers and the leaves. The colors I used were Fresh Freesia/Highland Heather, Tahitian Tide/Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sorbet/Blushing Bride for the flowers and Parakeet Party/Granny Apple Green for the leaves. I stamped each flower center separately using Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, and Soft Suede.
I die-cut two leaf sprays from the Artistic Dies using the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper. I added these to a Basic White Cardstock layer, then added the stamped images. Finally, I added a stamped sentiment in Night of Navy. The card base is Parakeet party.
Before I send this one, I’ll add a few embellishments. August and September are big birthday months around here, so I’m not sure who’s getting this one.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Thanks, Susan. And….maybe I mean you. Although it’s a different card. Same technique (kind of), but not the same stamps. I like it better. 🙂

Buffy, these are so pretty and I would never have thought to mask portions of the flowers. It adds such interest!
