Splendid Love

Splendid Love

Hello, crafty friends! As promised, here’s my Embossed Leafing card. The embossed leafing was supposed to be the star of the card, but I’m not sure it worked out that way.

Splendid Thoughts, Stampin' Up!

The embossed leafing shows up a lot better in person, of course. What is it about the glitzy and glam products that they aren’t very photogenic?

To create the embossed Gilded Leafing, I covered a piece of card stock (any color, even retired. It won’t show.) with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Ideally, I would use Adhesive Sheets, but mine seem to be hiding. (I’ve been organizing and putting things away in logical places. Somehow, that’s not working for me!)

I spread the Liquid Glue very thin, but made sure it covered the entire piece of card stock. If you use a Silicone Craft Sheet, you can take the glue all the way to the edges. If it spreads onto the craft sheet, it’s ok. It will wipe right off.  Or,, wait until it dries, then use a cheap lint roller over it. You know – one of those that is wrapped with Masking Tape, and you tear a sheet off when it’s full of lint to expose the next sticky piece.

After the card stock was completely covered with glue, I turned it glue-side down into my Gilded Leafing box. I pressed all over the back to be sure all of it got covered. Then I used a a Stamping Sponge to wipe the excess leafing off.

Once I was sure the leafing is totally adhered to the card stock, I ran it through the Time-Worn Type 3D Embossing Folder. It gave it a beautiful texture. (Note: The next time I do this, I will put a piece of waxed or parchment paper between the folder and the leafing, because I now have a Gilded Embossing Folder.)

I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the Silver & Gold 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This is free with a $50 puchase during Sale-a-bration.  I used Blending Brushes to add Coastal Cabana, Mango Melody, and Granny Apple Green Ink to the paper, then buffed it a little with a softI cloth to shine up the gold polka dots.

I cut a circle from Basic White Cardstock, then sponged Mango Melody over it and embossed it with the Timeworn Type 3D folder. I stamped two of the greenery in Bermuda Bay Ink, then colored it with a Pool Party Stampin’ Blend. I cut three pieces of greenery from the Embossed Leafing piece and the flower pot from Cajun Craze Cardstock. I sponged some Cajun Craze Ink on this and embossed it with the Timeworn Type folder that I am really enjoying on this card.

I arranged all the die-cuts over the circle and in the flower pot. I stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay ink on a Tailor Made Tag and added a Tahitian Tide bow. The card base is Bermuda Bay.

This card was so fun to make. It was fun to see the process take shape!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

  2. Such a pretty card – the gold leafing is gorgeous! I had to laugh about you not being able to find things after ‘organizing’ – happens to me all the time! LOL
