Color Lifted Forever Fern
Hello, Friends! I had the best time stamping today. I only created two cards, but I brushed up on some techniques. This was Mike’s pick for today’s card.
“Color Lifted” is kind of misleading for this card since you can’t see where it was lifted. I’ll explain. I used the Forever Fern Stamp Set bundled with the Forever Flourishing Dies. First, I used the Direct to Paper technique to add Parakeet Party, Bermuda Bay, and Coastal Cabana to a piece of Basic White Cardstock. After the ink was dry, I stamped the greenery images in Versamark Ink, then heat embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
I spritzed the embossed piece about five or six times, then blotted some of the water with a paper towel. I laid another piece of Basic White over the original, then ran them through the Stampin’ Emboss Machine. Some of the ink transferred to the second piece of Basic White, except where the embossed images were. The embossing protected the ink under the embossing powder from transferring. Frankly, I wasn’t happy with the results; I think my paper was too dry. It did leave a very soft background on the first piece, but you can’t see that, because…
I didn’t have the most concrete plan when I started. I loved having all the colorful, embossed pieces, but I wanted to add a sentiment, so I decided to die-cut the greenery, then adhered the pieces to a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from the Good Feelings Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I trimmed all the “overhang” from the greenery, then adhered the stamped/greenery piece to a Basic White card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
This card was so easy to make. It was a lot of fun as well! My favorite from today was an “Embossed Gilded Leafing” card, which you’ll see on Friday. I know Mike chose this one for today because he likes “Clean & Simple” cards with lots of white space. I just realized I need to add a few embellishments to this. I got sidetracked and forgot to finish!
Even though this isn’t what I envisioned, I do like how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Well, of course, I was living under a rock. True confession: I had never heard of Jennifer McG until you mentioned her. She has been my stamping companion lately!
