Splendid Day Suite

Hello, my friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. In the United States, we’re still in “weekend mode,” as we’re celebrating Independence Day. It’s one of my favorite holidays, and, although our country isn’t perfect (is any country?) I always reflect on how far we have come as a country that started with 13 colonies and a group of people from different countries, religions, and backgrounds.

Here’s a card to get you started. It’s another card from the “Creativity Now” event and uses products from the Splendid Day Suite in the July-December Mini Catalog.

First, I ran a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. Then I lightly added some White Craft Ink to the embossed layer with a Blending Brush.

Next, I stamped the greenery on Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, and the floral image on Petal Pink Cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I die-cut these and some of the other greenery (from Basic White Cardstock) using the Splendid Stems Dies. I also cut the semi-circle from a piece of the Splendid Day Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).

I layered the flowers, greenery, and semi-circle DSP die-cut to the Calypso Coral Layer and tied a piece of the Soft Sea Foam Seam Binding Ribbon around it. I added this layer to a Thick Basic White card base.

I stamped the sentiment from the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Basic White Cardstock, then fussy cut it and added it to the semi-circle die-cut. And for a little glam, I added some Basic Pearl Jewels.
