Mystery Pieces for May

Welcome back to Stamping with Buffy. I’ve had the best weekend. Mike & I were both free all weekend, so we caught up on a lot of projects, binge-watched one of our favorite TV series, and did some shopping. What does it say about me that my favorite thing we bought was a new “pooper-scooper?”  Our original finally “pooped out” after five dogs, and the replacement seemed cool, but it was totally worthless. We now have one that works well again. It’s the little things, right?

I also got to spend a lot of time in my craft room this weekend, and you’ll see the results over the next few weeks. In the meantime, here are the cards some of my amazing team members created with “Mystery Parts.”

Here are the pieces Nadine gave us in May.

And here are the cards. This one is mine.

First, I created a “Book Fold” card base with the Gorgeous Grape Cardstock. Basically, you score a 4-1/2″ x 11″ piece of card stock at 5-1/2″ and 6-1/2″. After you fold the card in half (at the 5-1/2″ score), add Tear & Tape Adhesive or another strong adhesive to the 1″ area between the fold and the extra score. This makes the card like a book; the front 4-1/2″ folds back when the card is opened and you have a 1″ spine at the left edge..

I embossed the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the Fern 3D Embossing Folder, then sponged Pear Pizzazz ink over it using a Blending Brush.  I trimmed 3/4″ off the top of the DSP to use on the spine.

Next, I used a Fresh Freesia Stamping Blend to color the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and one of the green Stamping Blends to color the Irridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels. Sadly, I cannot remember which green, because I forgot to write that down on the sticky note in the card when I created this in April. (Yes, Nadine sent the pieces early since she was traveling.)

I cut the Fresh Freesia Cardstock layer into two pieces; one is 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ for the front, and one is 3-4″ x 4-1/4″ for the spine. I stamped the bottle from the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set in the center of the 4-1/4″ square using Highland Heather Classic Ink, then I stamped the outline using Orchid Opulence Classic Ink. I punched it with the Vintage Bottle Punch.

On a Basic White Cardstock scrap, I inked the greenery from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set using Garden Green and Gorgeous Grape Stampin’ Write Markers, then die-cut with the coordinating Nature’s Prints Die. I stamped the bottle label in Pear Pizazz Classic Ink on a Basic White Cardstock scrap and the sentiment using Garden Green Classic Ink. Since the Bottled Happiness bundle includes a punch, I fussy cut the label and added it to the bottle.

To put this together, I adhered the Fresh Freesia pieces to the front and spine, then adhered the embossed/sponged DSP. I wrapped the ribbon around the spine, the added the punched and die-cut pieces and the colored rhinestones to the front.

Of course you know – if you bundle the Bundled Happiness Stamp Set and Vintage Bottle Punch, and the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set and Nature’s Prints Dies you will save 10% on each bundle.

Now – here is Nadine’s card. And I promise we did not see each other’s cards – or even talk about them – before we make them.

I LOVE this card! Nadine used a different embossing folder and the opposite side of the DSP. But how crazy is this that we both used the Bottled Happiness Bundle for our cards? Great minds! (I love her green bottle!)

This is Liz’s card. I love the beautiful butterflies. Liz also used the reverse side of the DSP. This is such a pretty card, don’t you think?

This is Chris’s gorgeous card! I love the shutters looking out at that gorgeous view. She embossed some of the New Horizons DSP from the January-June Mini Catalog for the view outside the shutters. So pretty!

Here’s Carol’s card. She used the Sending Smiles Bundle for this beautiful and happy card. I love the flowers that coordinate with the card stock layers over the beautiful DSP. And that side of the DSP is a perfect backdrop for the flowers.

This is Christy’s card.

I love how the embossing on the front mimics the DSP and also how she used both sides of the paper for her sentiment layer. It also opens in a unique way. Here’s the open card.

Fun! And here’s Sandy’s card.

Sandy used the beautiful Hues of Happiness DSP and the Blossoming Happiness Dies for her flower. Isn’t it beautiful? It’s perfect with the Heart & Home paper. I love the flower on the die-cut scalloped rectangle!

These are all so pretty and so different. Check back next month for the June cards and to see if Nadine and I are still on the same wave length!
