Splendid Day
There are some days that you can definitely say are absolutely splendid. For me this week, those days were Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. (And this is why you didn’t see a blog on Wednesday.) On Tuesday, I went to lunch with my dad’s sister, my daughter-in-law Katelyn, and my granddaughter Amelia. It was so much fun! Of course, any time I spend with Amelia is so much fun! And Katelyn and my aunt too, of course. We had lunch, and then my aunt suggested we visit the Dollar Tree. Amelia (no surprise) said yes to this. She loves to go to the Dollar Tree (now the mostly $1.25 Tree) with my aunt, because Aunt Ruth encourages her to buy things (which she pays for), and tells her that once it’s in the cart, it can’t come out.
I was aware of how quickly Amelia is growing up during this trip. She usually throws everything that looks fun in the cart. This time, she only wanted four things. It ended up being a few more than four, but it included make-up, notebooks, and other “grown up” things. There were very few toys. We all had a fun time, and then I got to have a sleep over with Miss Amelia. Now that she’s in school and has other activities and friends, we don’t get as many sleep overs, so I was thrilled.
We stopped at the grocery store for crab legs, then swam a bit in the pool until my fingers started going numb. When it was time for dinner, she was a crab leg maniac! We ate (and by “we” I mean mostly she) about three pounds of crab legs! It was so fun to watch her enjoy them!
On Wednesday, the fun continued until she had to go home. Then on Thursday, I spent a wonderful time with my mom. My mom is so amazing. She is so active and fun, and I hope that never changes! I enjoy every minute I spend with her.
Last Saturday, Stampin’ Up!® had an online event called “Creativity Now.” It showcased the Splendid Day Suite Collection from the July-December Mini Catalog. It was scheduled from 4-8 p.m. MT, which is 6-10 p.m. here on the East Coast. Since I was still getting ready for a Father’s Day event with the kids, I got to enjoy it later. Fortunately, it’s available online through the middle of July, but I did get to start watching today. Here’s the first card we made.
The Splendid Day Suite Collection includes the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set and Splendid Stems Dies (which are bundled to include the 10% discount), Open Leaf Trinkets, Soft Sea Foam 3/8″ Seam Binding Ribbon, and Splendid Day 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). It was the DSP that sold me on this event. It’s so gorgeous, and one side of each paper is a beautiful foil
Here’s how we created this card. On the 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ Basic White Cardstock layer, we scribbled on the top half with a Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Marker. On the bottom half, we scribbled with a Light Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends Marker. Then we scribbled over the bottom half of the Pool Party and the top half of the Fresh Freesia with the dark marker of the appropriate color. What a fun background!
We stamped bees from the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set two times in Pool Party and two times in Fresh Freesia. Then we die-cut two of the open greenery from Soft Seafoam Cardstock.
On a Basic White Scrap, we stamped the sentiment in Fresh Freesia Ink. I used a different sentiment, because I wanted to coordinate with my celebration with family days. My sentiment was a tiny bit smaller than the suggested one, so I trimmed my card stock to fit, then notched the ends with Paper Snips.
The 8″ of Soft Sea Foam Seam Binding Ribbon was folded in half, then adhered to the back of the sentiment tag with Stampin’ Seal. The greenery die-cuts were added to the back of the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals. We added the tag to the stamped Basic White Layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The DSP piece was supposed to be the other side, but the foil layer was too gorgeous to hide, so I adhered the beautiful foil DSP piece to the Soft Seafoam card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then added the stamped layer(s) with Seal.
This was a super fun card to create, and I can’t wait to make the other four projects! All of the products used in this card (except ink, card stock, and adhesive) will be available in the July-December Mini Catalog. If you don’t have one, let me know and I will get one to you!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
Product List (note: the products in the Splendid Day Product Suite are not included in this list since they’re not available until July.)
I am so glad you got to spend all that time with family. It sounds like you had a couple of great days! Love your card. The background is different and dfun!

Thanks, Susan! The background is so easy, but, as you said, a little different. (And I think we all had fun on the “splendid days!”)
