More Beautiful Moments
Welcome back, my friends! Oh, my goodness! Will the winter of 2021 never go away? We had a “spring teaser” that caused so many flowers and trees to start blooming. Now we’re back to “worse than winter” with chilly temperatures, wind, snow and more. Fortunately, we do have wind, which stirs the air and helps protect the blossoms. I remember so many years when my dad, brothers, and many of our employees went out when temperatures were low at night to light the “smudge pots” to warm the trees in the early spring. We also hired “agroters,” helicopters that would fly around the orchards and stir the air to keep the buds from freezing. The wind kind of does the same thing, so I am hopeful that our area’s fruit trees will be ok.
While Mike & I were away for the weekend, I created several cards using retiring Stampin’ Up!® products. These are a couple of my favorites.
This card uses the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set, which I absolutely love! My granddaughter Amelia is such a loving and kind little girl. She wants a little sister (or brother – or both!), and her mom and stepdad are working on fostering to adopt a little girl. I created this card for Amelia and her little sister. I may need to change skin tones and hair color, but that’s an easy fix!
First, I stamped the two little girls on Basic White Cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Then I colored them with Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, and Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends. I added sky around them with a Balmy Blue Watercolor Pencil. Note to self: Watercolor Pencils do not blend as well on Basic White as they do on Watercolor Paper. Still, it’s ok as a background.
Next I chose a beautiful design from the New Horizons Designer Series Paper (DSP), and die-cut the heart using the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder. (This is the same Hybrid Folder/Dies that I used in my Easter Friends post on Monday.) Then I backed the heart with the stamped image of the little girls, and added it to a Misty Moonlight card base.
I love this card – mostly because it reminds me of my granddaughter’s kind heart. She loves to help “little kids.” Last July 4, she and her parents were at our mountain house with Mike & me. During the fireworks, there was a younger girl who kept escaping her parents. Amelia stepped in and started playing with the little girl, so her parents could enjoy the show. She is such an amazing girl!
Since I had this beautiful heart die-cut left over, I had to use it on another card. It reminded me of our mountain house, so I used the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Basic White Cardstock. I added the die-cut to the center of the card, then added that layer to a Basic White card base. This was beautiful, and I thought it was perfect, but I still needed to add a sentiment. I stamped the sentiment from the Hats Off Stamp Set onto the Vellum Layering Designs in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then cut it out with Paper Snips and added it to the beautiful mountain heart die-cut. Here’s how it turned out.
I am so happy to have two cards from the same basic layout – and they are totally different! Mike & I will be celebrating our 40th anniversary in November, so this may be my anniversary card for him. Who am I kidding? Our anniversary is 8 months away; I will have something else for him by then. I’ll have another use for this card by November!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Buffy, both cards are beautiful! I love the way you’ve used the negative (with those sweet little girls) and the heart itself.

I love these. Almost ran by Wesley’s for hugs after Lisa did some Notarizing for me, but too much traffic to navigate the driveway.
Love you ❤️❤️
