Hydrangea Haven
Welcome to a new week with Stamping with Buffy! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today, I have a card that I made with another stamp/die bundle that you can purchase at a 20% discount over the price of the individual products. The Hydrangea Haven Bundle is still available in the current Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog, but it’s only 10% off. During March 2022, you can buy this bundle at 20% off during the Savings Are in Bloom Promotion.
I haven’t used this bundle in a long time. Too many other stamp sets and dies caught my attention, but it’s a fabulous bundle! It arrived about a year ago in the 2021 January – June Mini Catalog. Fortunately it carried over to the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, and now it’s being offered at an even bigger discount.
First, I need to tell you about an amazing discovery of mine. You may already know this, but I just discovered it and need to share.
I grew up on a farm. That means you save everything you can, repair what you love, and save as much money as possible. So when my Wink of Stella Glitter Brushes ran out of juice, I had to find a way to make the glitter last a little longer. I took the brush apart – unscrewing everything possible and pulling out little black stoppers and everything else until I just had a tube and a barrel. I placed the empty tube in a container, then poured 91% rubbing alcohol into and around the tube until all the winky stuff was rinsed off. Then I rinsed out the empty barrel as well. What I ended up with was a wonderful mix of alcohol and what looked like our retired shimmer paint. I poured this into a Stampin’ Spritzer, and the result was an awesome glittery shimmer spritz! It is amazing! Here’s a photo that shows the shimmer.
Do you see how glittery that is? GORGEOUS! (Ok, I’m a glitter/glimmer/sparkle fanatic, so I had this ready before I started my project.)
Here’s the card I made for today.
Sadly, my shimmer didn’t show up for the photo, but here’s how I made the card.
I inked the blossom background with Balmy Blue, Fresh Freesia, and Highland Heather Stampin’ Write Markers. Then I spritzed it with my alcohol/Wink of Stella mix and stamped onto Basic White Cardstock. Next, I stamped the detail image with Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink over the spritzed background. I should have masked this image, but I was in a time crunch, so I just did my best to add ink just to the flower. I used my thumb to rub ink off the leaves that accidentally got covered.
Next, I used an Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker to add ink to the detail mage. I used my Stamparatus for this, so I could add more color as needed. I placed the leaf/stem image over the detail and stamped it with Pear Pizzazz, then die-cut the entire blossom with the coordinating Hydrangea Die.
I used the Scalloped Contour Dies to Die-cut the Fresh Freesia layer, Then I embossed it with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder. I added the flower to the Fresh Freesia layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Balmy Blue was stamped in VersaMark Ink with the bees from the Honeybee Home Stamp Set from the January-June Mini Catalog. I added all of the elements to a Fresh Freesia card base.
The last thing I added was the sentiment. I stamped it on Basic White Cardstock in Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink, then punched with the Double Oval Punch. I added it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
This card is for my mom (which isn’t a surprise now; hope you like it, Mom!), because she does so many little (and HUGE!) things for everyone she loves. The older I get the more I realize I need my mom every day. She’s the best, and when people tell me I’m just like her, it makes me smile!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Jeepers, that wink of Stella mixture is lovely, and so is your card. I’m glad someone likes to take things apart and lubricate with alcohol!!

I love hydrangea, and the wink of stella glitter, too! (I do the same with my empty w.o.s. pens too – I just pour the alcohol into the barrel). Awesome card!

Thanks, Deborah! You know, I’ll bet that would be a lot easier and less messy. (Or at least one less container to clean up.) Next time, I’m mixing in the pen and pouring over. There’s a reason you’re a “Smart!”

Thanks, Susan! I do love “spritzing” Stella instead of painting it!
