Sweet as a Peach Gift Card Holder

Sweet as a Peach Gift Card Holder

It’s the weekend, my friends! I hope you had a wonderful week. My house is still a construction zone, and the bathroom redo is ongoing. On the plus side, even though the house is in total upheaval, the new TV is mounted to the wall and we have a lovely new cabinet under it that the cats can’t jump onto. That means when Mike brings me flowers (as he did tonight), I can put them on the cabinet with no fear! But let’s talk about stamping…

The Sweet as a Peach Bundle from Stampin’ Up!® is one of my favorites. Before he retired, my dad grew apples and peaches. Although Georgia is known for peaches, Virginia also has delicious peaches. Sadly, though, sometimes spring comes too soon in Virginia, and the peaches start to bud. And then, of course, we have another freeze and the peaches get wiped out in the cold.  Dad put up with this for years, but finally he had enough and pushed out all his peach trees. This was sad, because peaches are my favorite fruit. Peach jam is also a particular favorite of mine. So when I saw the You’re a Peach Suite, I knew I had to have at least the Designer Series Paper (DSP) and bundle. The Mini Jam Jars are adorable, but I didn’t get those, because my jam is too good for just a taste. (Yes, I’m bragging.) I try to make it more like preserves, with chunks of peaches in the jam. It’s almost like heaven in a jar. Seriously, if the serpent in the Garden of Eden wanted to tempt me, he’d use a peach. I got hives one summer from eating too many peaches. Yes, it was gluttony, but they were so good, and so sweet, and it was so hot…

So before I start drooling over my laptop, here’s the card I made with the Sweet as a Peach Bundle and You’re a Peach DSP. And, before I forget, this is one of the stamp/die bundles that is being offered at a 20% discount this month.

Sweet as a Peach, Stampin' Up!

This is a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) of a card I saw on Pinterest. It was a fun fold, with the front flap being open as well as the card base. I decided to seal it to make a gift card holder instead.

I would love to give you dimensions for all the layers, but honestly, this is what I did.

First, I cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Calypso Coral card base (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/2″). Next, I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut the top of the card front at a diagonal. I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the DSP, then laid it behind the card front and marked where I wanted to cut it at a diagonal.

Next, I cut another 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock, laid it over the front of the card, and marked where I wanted it cut. And, finally, I repeated the process with another piece of the DSP. It’s not very scientific or math-y, but it worked!

I adhered all the pieces to the card front, making sure to leave enough opening for the gift card.

Next I stamped three peaches and three sets of the stems/leaves. I have never been happy with the peaches I’ve stamped, so this time, I went about it a little differently. I used my Stamparatus and stamped the peach in Bumblebee Classic Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then I stamped over it with Calypso Coral Ink. You would think the Calypso Coral would totally cover the Bumblebee, but because this is a “Distinktive” stamp, I worked really well. I am really happy with the color, and I think it looks realistic.

I stamped the leaves/stem using Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink and a Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Write Marker. First, I stamped the leaves in Pear Pizzazz, then cleaned the ink on the stem off with my thumb before stamping. I colored the stem with the Cinnamon Cider marker, then stamped. Perfect!

I used the Peach Dies to cut out the peaches and stems/leaves. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals for the two bottom peaches, but adhered the top one directly to the card with Stampin’ Seal.

The inside of the card is a 4″ x 5-1/4″ Basic White Cardstock layer. I used a Calypso Coral Classic Pad to stamp the sentiment diagonally over the card front.

This bundle is so pretty and so much fun! And the paper is gorgeous. Don’t wait to order if you like it, though. The bundle price is only available while supplies last, and with the supply chain like it is, who knows what that means! I don’t want you to be disappointed.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

I’m in agreement. I love peaches too. My grandpa raised strawberries so I did a lot of picking, canning, and especially eating when I was young. However, I like peaches best. Also, I love your card with the gift holder. I may be making a CASE of your CASE.
