Mountain Air
Welcome back, my crafty friends! Every month, my demonstrator team takes turns bringing a technique to our group. Anyone is invited (and let me know if you’d like to have the link!), and the techniques are amazing! This month, Carol demonstrated the Northern Lights technique.
This is such a beautiful and really simple technique! In a nutshell, simply use Blending Brushes to add color to Basic White Cardstock, leaving a bit of space between colors. At the end, fill in the white spaces with Night of Navy Classic Ink and a blending brush. Easy!
I decided to do “swirls” of color and added some mountains and water from the Mountain Air Stamp Set. I wasn’t super happy with the results so I took a cue from my friend Nadine and cropped the mountains and sky to make this card.
I used Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Magenta Madness, Misty Moonlight, and Night of Navy to create the background. After I stamped the water using Night of Navy Classic Ink and the mountains in Rich Razzleberry, I cropped the image and backed it with more Night of Navy Cardstock. I adhered it to a Basic White Cardstock base after I stamped the sentiment from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set in Night of Navy Classic Ink. This was a nod to my Ukranian friends. You can expect to see more sunflowers in the next few days.
In the early 2000’s, Mike made several trips to Ukraine to teach in a college there. He made many friends who we still communicate with today. Our hearts are breaking as we watch the news today. Those we know who are still there are standing strong and are safe, but our prayers are with them always. They are a strong and proud people, and we’re hoping for a quick and peaceful resolution to this crisis.

This is so pretty Buffy. I love your colors and blending. I also really like the fact that it is a panel on your card, and there is lots of “white space”

Such a lovely card, Buffy! We had to cancel our planned trip to Ukraine when Covid hit 😦 but we still plan on going. My husband’s family is from Ukraine/Poland/Finland. #standwithukraine
