Blessings of Home
Welcome back to Stamping with Buffy! We had a most amazing weekend, and I hope you did too. First, my younger son, Wes was married to Katelyn on Saturday. Katelyn is one of the sweetest people in the world, and we are so happy to welcome her into our family. And now the Cooper girls outnumber the Cooper males for the first time ever! After years and years of being the only female, I am thrilled to be in the majority! But most of all, I am loving my new daughters!
Wes’s wedding was attended only by parents, grandparents, and siblings, but it was still a lovely and large affair. None of our side of the family had met any of Katelyn’s except for her mom, grandparents, and brother. It was so fun to get to know the rest of her family – and they’re all as sweet as she is!
Miss Amelia was the flower girl, maid of honor, ring bearer, and best girl at the wedding. It was a lot of responsibility, but she handled it very well. Here’s a picture of my beautiful granddaughter in her wedding ensemble.
While she was changing clothes, she asked if she could wear make up to the wedding. Of course, I said yes. She applied it herself and did an amazing job, I think. She’s better at it than I am. She added just a touch of blush and eye shadow and a bit of lipstick. Doesn’t she look like a beautiful wood nymph? And, oh, my goodness – those blue eyes! She definitely got her dad’s and grandad’s eyes.
On Sunday, we had a birthday dinner for Jon, my older son, who turned 32 last week. I love getting together with family! Ever since the boys were little, we’ve had birthday dinners for them. They get to choose the menu, and Jon chose lasagne and an Oreo dessert. This dessert is amazing. There’s an Oreo cookie crust, topped with vanilla ice cream, then a sugary chocolate drizzle, and finally Cool Whip. It’s delicious! Thanks so much to my friend Julie for this recipe. I kept asking Jon what he wanted for his birthday dinner, but he kept dithering. Finally, about two weeks before his birthday, I said, “If you don’t choose, you’re getting lasagne and Oreo dessert,” which was a favorite when the boys were little. Jon’s reply was, “Oh – that sounds delicious!” Of course, I added a salad and some garlic breadsticks. Everyone seemed to enjoy it!
Although I didn’t get a chance to stamp over the weekend, I did get a chance last week to create this card with the Blessings of Home Stamp Set. This seemed fitting after a wonderful weekend with family, because there’s nothing I enjoy more than the blessing of having my family in my home
I stamped the image from the Blessings of Home Stamp Set in Early Espresso on Sahara Sand Cardstock. Then I colored the image with a Blender Pen and White Craft Ink. and Calypso Coral, Balmy Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, and Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends. I love the way it turned out!
The sentiment – in Night of Navy Classic Ink – is from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set. I added the Sahara Sand stamped layer to a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock, then to a Sahara Sand card base. This card is very simple – just stamp and color! I didn’t add any embellishments or ribbon, because I wanted the simplicity and beauty of the stamp set to stand on its own.
This week, Mike & Jon are renovating my bathroom. I can’t wait to see it; Mike is keeping a lot of the details secret. I know I’m getting another jacuzzi tub but that’s all I’ve been told. I’m leaving for the week, and hopefully it will be done when I get back on Thursday. Max and I are planning a fun time together! That little pug has been a trooper the past week with all the comings and goings, and he’s been left alone a lot each day. We’re both looking forward to hanging out together and taking long walks in the mountain. Well, I am. Max has no idea what’s in store, because he’s a dog, but I know he’ll enjoy having someone home with him all week. And he loves being in the mountain house, because he gets lots of walks.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
