Daffodil Daydream

Daffodil Daydream

Welcome to a new week, Stamping Friends. My weekend was amazing, and I hope yours was too. I had a fun class with friends, and then Katelyn and I made some Valentines for Amelia’s class at school. We modified the most recent Paper Pumpkin kit to make it a little more appropriate for 2nd graders. I’ll post those another day, but they were really cute!

On Sunday, I went with Stephanie and Katelyn to finalize plans for Wes and Katelyn’s wedding Sunday. It’s small – only parents, grandparents, and siblings – but Stephanie had such wonderful suggestions. It’s going to be lovely.

Amelia’s school divides Elementary students into three categories. There’s Kindergarten, Lower Elementary (1st & 2nd grades) and Upper Elementary (3rd-5th grades). Katelyn and I had made cards for the Lowers, but Amelia decided she wanted cards for the Kinders and Uppers as well. We were going to buy some cheapie Valentines at the store, but she had better ideas. She went through my mom’s stamps and found some that would work. Long story short, while Katelyn and Steph were talking about the wedding plans, Amelia, Mom, and I designed and created 25 more cards. Whew!

I promised to show you my Daffodil Daydream card today. I’ve made a couple, but here’s the one we made in class.

Daffodil Daydream, Stampin' Up!, Daisy Lane

This is such a simple fold. Start with a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Daffodil Delight Cardstock, then score at 4-1/4″ to create a standard 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card base. Then score the front panel a Z-fold card.

I only used the Daffodil Daydream Stamp Set, but if you bundle it with the Daffodil Dies, you will save 50% over the price of purchasing them separately AND you will earn a free Sale-a-bration product. I opted for the gorgeous Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Cut three 2″ x 5-1/2″ pieces of the DSP and one 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic White Cardstock. Stamp the daffodil image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on the Basic White Cardstock, then stamp the sentiment at the top of the card stock. I used one of the sentiments in the Many Messages Stamp Set. It was easy with the Stamparatus and a Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker. Color the daffodil with Mossy Meadow, So Saffron, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I used a Blending Brush to add some color to the Basic White Cardstock.

Stamp three of the smaller daisy from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set on Basic White Cardstock using Smoky Slate Classic Ink. Punch with the Medium Daisy Punch and layer, slightly offsetting each daisy. I colored the center of the top daisy with a Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend to mimic the daisy image in the DSP.

Finally, ink the Happy Birthday sentiment in the Many Messages Stamp Set with the Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker and die-cut, punch or cut out.

Adhere the DSP to the first three panels. Adhere the daisy to the second panel, and adhere the Basic White piece to the fourth panel. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the front of the card.

When folded, it looks like this.
