Snow Day Fun!

Snow Day Fun!

Hi, Stampers! I thought I’d post a bonus this week since I missed Friday. My friend Christy has started a “birthday club.” Each month, someone posts a card layout, and we use it for birthday cards for that month. Of course, most layouts can be used for other events as well. Since I don’t have too many birthdays in January, I made a generic card that I’m sending as a thank you for online orders I’ve received.

Amazing Thanks, Stampin' Up!, A Grand Kid

I had so much fun making these cards! I realized I have been hoarding the beautiful Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Annual Catalog, so I chose that as my starting point. Selecting card stock colors was simple; I simply picked the Just Jade, Polished Pink and Pale Papaya from the DSP colors.

You can see that this is another “Let the DSP do most of the work” card! Honestly, this paper is so gorgeous, I hate to cover it up with extra layers. I added a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Just Jade Cardstock to the card base, then added a 3″ x 4-1/4″ piece of DSP. I cut a 1″ x 4-1/4″ strip of Just Jade for the left side (over the DSP), then added a 3/4″ x 4-1/4″ strip of coordinating DSP over it.

For the sentiment, I chose the awesome 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum in the same colors as the card bases (Polished Pink or Pale Papaya) for the base. Then I die-cut amazing from Just Jade Cardstock using the Amazing Thanks Dies. I cut the amazing “shadow” from Gold Foil Sheets and layered it behind the Just Jade piece. I added it to the vellum using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used Polished Pink and Pale Papaya Stampin’ Write Markers to ink only the You are from the You are so loved stamp in the A Grand Kid Stamp Set.

My embellishment is a piece of the Gold Shimmer Ribbon behind the vellum.

You can, of course, step this up a notch by embossing the Just Jade layer, but I kept it simple.

It’s finally snowing here! We’ve been looking forward to it (or dreading it, depending on who you talk to) for days. It’s supposed to be 3″ or so. That’s where the forecast started, then it went up to maybe 18″. Now I think it’s back to 3-6″. Since Monday is a holiday, most schools and businesses were closed already, so it’s kind of a waste of snow. Amelia’s school was not closed (but it is now!) so I know she’s excited to have a day to play in the snow with Wesley.

I hope wherever you are you stay safe and warm! Have a lovely day, and thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy.
