Friends of the Forest

Friends of the Forest

Welcome back, my friends! I hope your year has been amazing so far. I’m so excited that the Stampin’ Up!® January-June Mini and Sale-a-bration have started! There are so many amazing new products available now, and, of course, Sale-a-bration is my favorite time of the year.

When I saw the Friends of the Forest Stamp Set in the new mini catalog, I thought it would be perfect for Amelia. She and her friends have been sharing their favorite animals. Amelia’s is a bunny; her friends Monroe and Emma both love foxes. I made ornaments for Amelia and Monroe, but I haven’t finished Emma’s yet. Amelia asked me to make her a fox, a bunny, and a deer. I now have the perfect stamp set to make Emma’s ornaments! But first, I created this card.

Friends of the Forest, Picture This, Stampin' Up!

This set works perfectly with the Picture This Dies in the Annual Catalog and the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Sale-a-bration. I used the circle Picture This die to die-cut the circles in the Balmy Blue marbled DSP, the again on a piece of Basic White, and once again on a piece of the Friendly Hello DSP. The Friendly Hello DSP is also a Sale-a-bration item, but it’s bundled with the Friendly Hello Stamp Set and free with a $100 order.

I stamped the bunny, the tree stump, mushrooms, and bird on two of the Basic White circles, then colored with Stampin’ Blends. One of the things I love about the Stampin’ Blends is that you can use any of our Classic Stampin’ Pads to stamp an image you want to color. Because the classic ink is water based and the Stampin’ Blends are alcohol markers, they work really well together.

On the largest Basic White circle, I stamped the sentiment. I used a Stampin’ Write Marker to ink only the my friend part of the sentiment. This was also for Amelia. She is teaching herself cursive. I’m not sure when they learn it at her school, but they don’t teach it in public school – and she wants to learn. So I’m sending her cursive notes when I can! I think she looks at it like a secret code.

I added the smaller die-cut circles from the Friendly Hello DSP into the open spaces, then stamped, colored, and punched the deer. I am so happy the Deer Builder Punch carried over from the July-December Mini Catalog!

This card seems like a fun frolic through the forest, don’t you think? I’m happy with the way it turned out – even without any embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Funny how we are buying stamp sets now to make our grandchildren happy. I have been trying to get Maddie to stamp with me but she ends up coloring more than stamping. Very cute card!

Thanks, Susan! I think that’s normal. Amelia would rather color – and then she goes off on her own creative tangent. She does love using my original stamp positioner, though. Actually, she has claimed it. When I was straightening up the room the other day, I found it in her craft stash. Hmmmmm.

This is so cute! It reminds me of the Christmas one you sent to me (which I love, by the way – thank you!) I will never tire of cute critters 🙂
