Angels of Peace
Happy Friday, Stampers! I just realized Thanksgiving is next week. Eeek! I need to defrost some poultry and start getting ready for the holiday! Meanwhile, I’ve been having a lovely time playing in my craft room – which is why my poultry is still frozen. In case you’re wondering, I left Mike in charge of shopping, so my poultry is a duck. We also have a turkey, but Mom found a great deal on turkeys at her favorite grocery store, so she’s going to roast the turkey this year. We get to cook the duck. And by “we” I mean the man who bought the duck. (Totally unrelated to stamping – if you have a great duck recipe, Mike would love it if you’d like to share it!)
One of the sets I absolutely loved in the Stampin’ Up!® July-December Mini Catalog was Angels of Peace. I loved the images – which reminded me of one of the first Stampin’ Up!® Christmas Stamp Sets I ever ordered. The sentiments in the set work well for Christmas, of course, but they also can be used year round. I didn’t use any of them for this card, by the way.
For this card, I started with the 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Gorgeous Grape Cardstock layer. First, I die-cut the window using the Layering Circles Dies. Then I embossed it with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder.
Next, I laid the Gorgeous Grape panel over the Basic White Thick Cardstock card base and stamped the angel through the window using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I colored the image with the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2, then smoothed out the colors with a Blender Pen. I also added a tiny bit of Wink of Stella over the wings and the angel’s gown.
Next, I used the Gorgeous Grape die-cut from the “window” to stamp the sentiment from the For Unto Us Stamp Set. I adhered the embossed Gorgeous Grape Cardstock layer and the sentiment layer over the card base and added a little more Wink of Stella to the star in the sentiment.
For a little fun – and because I thought the card front needed just a little more “something” – I punched some stars from the Silver Foil Specialty Pack using the Starlit Punch and added one to the top of the card.
The fact that this adorable little angel reminds me of my granddaughter has nothing at all to do with how much I love this card and the Angels of Peace stamp set. Oh- and both the Angels of Peace and the For Unto Us Stamp Sets will be retiring January 3, so order them now!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy!
