Snow Wonder with Peaceful Place
Welcome back, my friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I did, for sure! Stampin’ Up!® OnStage was Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and it was so much fun. I learned a lot, picked up quite a few new ideas, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. On Saturday, one of the activities was a “Stamp & Share” event. I posted the cards I made on my Facebook Page. Head over there to see them, and feel free to follow me if you aren’t already!
One of the things I love about Stampin’ Up!® is the product coordination. Stamp sets often have a punch or a set of dies that coordinate, or even designer series paper (DSP) or an embossing folder. And, of course, the ink, paper, ribbon, and embellishment colors coordinate as well. I tend to stay in one suite of products, but today, I ventured outside my little box.
The DSP on this card is from the Peaceful Place Suite in the July-December Mini Catalog. I love that suite, particularly the DSP and the Peaceful Cabin Bundle. The paper reminds me of the trees at my grandparents’ home, and I love the touches of silver in the gray and black paper. But look how well the DSP coordinates with the Snow Wonder Stamp Set and Snow Time Dies. It just adds to the vintage feel of the scene.
I love how the snowman adds few splashes of color to this snowy scene. I stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then colored the scarf, hat, and greenery with Night of Navy, Fresh Freesia, Shaded Spruce, Real Red, and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends. I also colored over his stick arms with a Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend and added a bit of Balmy Blue to give the snow a bit of depth. Then I die-cut the snowman, added it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and added a sentiment. Easy!
This is another example of letting the DSP do most of the work. And, honestly, I think I could have left off the snowman and still had a beautiful card.
