Snow Wonder
How weird is it to come back from the tropics and then post a snowman card? Answer: Really weird, because I’m still in warm weather mode. Thankfully, it’s not cold here yet. At least, I don’t think it is. I was still in summer clothes when we got home, and it felt ok. But I wasn’t paying a lot of attention to the weather. We stopped at my mom’s on the way home to pick up Max, and he was so excited to see us, it was hard to think about anything else. Except when Jon, my older son, said, “do you have your glasses,” and I remembered he had brought my birthday gift he had spent so much time creating. I cannot give enough credit to this perfect gift in a blog about snowmen, so that’s all I’ll say right now. Except that I haven’t shed so many tears over a gift in I don’t know how long. But be ready for pictures and more gushing very soon.
The Snow Wonder Stamp Set and Snow Time Dies were available last year in the July-December Mini Catalog, but it was so popular, Stampin’ Up!® brought it back this year. Don’t you love the vintage feel of the snowman?
I stamped the snowman image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and the evergreen trees using Evening Evergreen Classic Ink on Basic White Cardstock, then die cut with the Snow Time Dies.
I used Real Red, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Balmy Blue, Shaded Spruce, and Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends to color the snowman image, then layered it and the trees to a Basic White Layer. I added some snowflakes in Balmy Blue Classic Ink to the background.
The sentiment, from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set, is stamped in Evening Evergreen on the Basic White Panel. Everything on the Basic White panel was added to the Shaded Spruce card base.
I love this card – and, of course, the reminder that cooler weather is on the way to northwestern Virginia. I’m not looking forward to winter, but I do love the days when the weather makes it possible to stay home and enjoy a day off!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have an awesome day!

We’ve already had snow in our higher mountain passes (and one of the local ski mountains) but thankfully none here yet! I love this old fashioned feel to your card. (and I really want to know what Jon made you for your birthday!!)

Yikes – I’m glad we haven’t had snow yet! I don’t think our mountains have had any, but I haven’t been paying attention. The earliest I remember having snow is Halloween. Hopefully, this year will be “normal,” and it will wait until December!
