Christmas at the Beach
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of hearing, “Summer is almost over.” Summer vacation may be almost (or already) over for school kids, but here is my world, we officially have another month before fall begins. I’m not ready to close up the pool or give up my warm days. And I’m definitely not ready to trade my flip flops for real shoes.
This probably goes back to my childhood. I hated seeing “Back to School!” sales when we had just started summer vacation. So to hang on to the season a little longer, I have a “beachy” card for you.
I’m not sure I’d like to trade in my Christmas tree for a tree made of shells, but I might be willing to give it a try for a year or two if we happened to be at a warm beach!
To create this card, I cut a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock and used a piece of notebook paper and a Stamping Blend with Sahara Sand ink to blend the lines. Next, I used the Friends Are Like Seashells Bundle and the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder with Pearlescent Paper to create the shell tree. I wanted something besides light pink and peach tones, so I added some tiny flowers in Just Jade from the Artistically Inked Bundle.
I layered my shells to the Very Vanilla layer, then to a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Soft Seafoam, then to a Very Vanilla card base. For a little more color, I added some sequins that were on my desk. I’m pretty sure they were leftovers from a Paper Pumpkin or other Stampin’ Up!® kit. However, the Genial Gems, Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels or other current embellishments would look as good or even better. (Disclaimer: I have all those embellishments; I was hurrying to finish and just grabbed what was close, not because I was too lazy to look. Really!)
The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede. It’s from the Sweet Little Stockings Stamp Set, which is so fun.

I am in the other camp. I don’t like summer, esp when it is hot, except for harvesting from my fruit trees. This is such a sweet card. I love the idea of a beach themed Christmas card

Thanks, Jackie! I could do with a teeny bit less heat & humidity, and I do love fall. But I’m not ready to think about snow and ice yet. And I’m loving watching Amelia learn to swim!

This is such a fun card! I love the seashell tree, and the pearlescent paper is perfect for the shells. Did you sponge the background, or is that DSP? Either way, it’s awesome! 🙂

Thank you, Deborah! For the background, I masked using scrap paper, then sponged over the edge.
