Joy with Embossing Paste

Joy with Embossing Paste

Welcome to a new week! You would think by now I would be used to the hot, muggy days of August, but I’m not. Still, it’s lovely to feel the sun on my face – at least for a few minutes.

Yesterday, I picked plums for my mom. Since I got there a little early in the day, it wasn’t quite so hot. I was at the place where the plums left on the tree were super high up, and I was wondering how I was going to reach them, even with a ladder. Fortunately, my Jon, who visits Mom every Sunday, pulled in and finished them up for me. I have the best kids!

I had so much fun Saturday creating with my soon-to-be daughter in-law Katelyn. Here’s one of the cards I’ll be making for Christmas.

Decorative Masks, Embossing Paste, Stampin' Up!

This was so fun to make! I was inspired by a catalog Mike got in the mail. He is so sweet; he never throws anything away if he thinks I can use it for inspiration.

To create this card, I first used one of the Plenty of Patterns Decorative Masks from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog with the Shimmery White Embossing Paste on Balmy Blue Cardstock. While it dried, I die-cut the letters and snowflake using the So Many Snowflakes and Playful Alphabet Dies from the annual Catalog and the beautiful Silver Foil Specialty Pack from the new July-December Mini Catalog. This foil is so fun; there are three sheets and each has a different finish – a brushed finish, matte finish, and the mirrored foil finish used here.

After the embossing paste dried, I added some stars around the edges of the card stock using more of the Shimmery White paste. The star mask/stencil is one of the free ones in a recent Paper Pumpkin kit. When the stars were dry, I added the “J O Y” with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To add a little more sparkle, I adhered a few Subtle Shimmer Sequins (from the July-December Mini Catalog). Looking at this card makes me feel a little cooler on this hot August day!

If you haven’t tried the embossing paste on your projects, give it a go! It’s super easy and fun to use. You can select either the Shimmery White that I used here or simply White Matte finish. You can add ink refills to the paste to give it color, or leave it plain.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a wonderful day!
