Under the Sea
What a wonderful Father’s Day we had yesterday! All the kids and my mom were here, and we had such a wonderful time. Mike picked the menu with all his favorites since he was the “reigning dad.”
After dinner, Amelia and I swam. We were the only ones, which surprised me, because it was really hot. She is swimming like a little fish. Last year, when she had swimming lessons in school, she would only stay under water about a second. Now, she’s doing flips and handstands, and is actually swimming – and without her “water wings.” I am so proud of her.
In honor of my little fish, I pulled out my new Sea Life Dies. Fortunately, you can make a really cute card using only the dies, because my Seascape Stamp Set is backordered. Of course, I still ordered the bundle, because I wanted to save 10%. The stamp set should be here soon, but I couldn’t wait.
I cut the Betta Fish from the Seaside Spray “water” design from the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the January – June Mini Catalog. If you love it, order it today, because it retires June 30 (or when supplies run out). This die doesn’t cut the entire fish from the paper. It cuts details out of the paper; so fun! It looks almost invisible in the water. I cut the two little fish from Bermuda Bay Cardstock and the coral from Petal Pink Cardstock. For the sea bed, I tore a piece of the Sahara Sand design from the Sand & Sea DSP and added it to the bottom of the Seaside Spray piece.
After I put the card together on a Calypso Coral card base, I realized I needed a suitable sentiment. I love, “Here’s to the Next Adventure,” from the Hats Off Stamp Set, so I stamped that in Calypso Coral Classic Ink. And that’s the only thing on this card that’s stamped.
This is another stamp set/bundle that Miss Amelia picked out. Honestly, when I get the July-December Mini Catalog, I’m just going to give it to her and tell her to make a list. Her choices have been so much fun – and they’ve pushed me out of the ruts I’ve been stuck in.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. I hope your day is filled with fun adventures!

What a wonderful card! I love that you left the beta fish attached and the gills even have some light shining on them. I think this is one of the best layouts I’ve seen for all of the elements.

Thank you, Jackie! I had so much fun with this one. Do you have this bundle? Should we hatch another evil plot??

It sounds like you had a wonderful Father’s Day! I think Mike spending 4 times the normal amount on chlorine was a great investment. Your card is very cute! Amelia has good taste!

Thank you, Susan! (And thanks for inspiring me to get this bundle.) I’m so glad Amelia picked this – and, yes, it was a good investment. Painful, but good!
