How’s Your Summer Going?
Welcome back, my friends! I know it’s not quite summer yet, but it feels like it. Today was a glorious day here in the northwestern part of Virginia. It was warm, but there was a breeze and the humidity was very, very low. It reminded me of summers when I was a child. I don’t think the heat bothers me, but the humidity – sheesh! It’s awful. Today, though, was beautiful.
I ran out to my mom’s this morning, planning to weed her flower bed since it was such a perfect day to work outside. But while we were having lunch, she mentioned her blog. She started her blog years ago, but hadn’t had time to do much while my dad was ill. She’s attending a virtual writer’s conference next weekend with some of her favorite writers, and wanted to get back into blogging. When I went to her blog site, it seemed she hadn’t “launched” it – even though I could see her blog posts. Not wanting technology to win over my stubbornness, I got her site up and running. There’s still some work to be done and some posts to move to the new site, but I’m so proud of what she’s written so far. Mom is an amazing writer, and I can’t wait to see her books in print. She and my dad have “works in progress,” and Mom is working on a way to merge them into one amazing book. I’ll keep you posted on her progress!
In other summer news – When Mike and Jon opened the pool this year, it was basically dry. What??? Apparently, we have a leak in the liner. <groan> Although we’ve been able to fill and clean it (and swim!!), it’s been a siege to find the leak. Hopefully, we’ll get it fixed in the next week or so. If only the cicadas would stop trying to find their true loves in our pool. I try to save as many as I can, but I keep having to say, “Dude – she’s in the tree! Just keep shrieking and let her come to you! Stop looking for her in the depths.” Sadly, they do not listen to my words of wisdom, so I save those I can and leave the others in the grass to decompose.
I may have mentioned that Amelia and I created a Fairy Garden at my mom’s. It’s lovely with the lights we’ve added (although I have only seen them in pictures from Mom) and her beautiful additions – chairs and sofas for the fairies, beautiful décor, and more! I’ll post some pictures soon! I’m sad that the flowers we planted didn’t grow, but I think it’s because it was a “rock garden,” and there just wasn’t enough soil. Sill, it’s lovely with her additions. She has written a few notes to the fairies, and they’ve responded. I know she will be excited to see the responses! Don’t you love the magic of childhood?
Speaking of magic – The Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper (DSP) this year is amazingly gorgeous and adds so much beauty (and magic) to a card or other project. From July 1 to August 2, 2021, selected DSPs will be offered at a 15% discount! I won’t know until next week which papers will be discounted, but I’ll let you know when I do. I love all the papers in the current catalog, so I know I’ll be stocking up on several designs!
Here’s a look at all the DSPs available in the new 2021 Annual Catalog. This video shows the full page of all the designs so you can really see each page in all its beauty.
So what’s your favorite? I have a hard time choosing my fave, because they’re all so awesome! Leave a comment by June 30 with your favorite DSP and I’ll randomly draw a winner who will receive his/her favorite pack of DSP.
I hope your summer has been as fun (except for the pool leak) as mine! Capture all the moments and savor every memory.
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
Expressions in Ink is my favorite because it is so unique and ya gotta love the gold!

It is wonderful to have my blog up and running. Thank you for persevering – i would quit and take a “recovery nap” rather than struggle with it!
The DSP is great – really lovely designs that inspire creativity.

I do too, but, like you – Expressions in Ink is the top. I love the “alcohol ink background” look and the gold veins. So pretty!

Here’s the link, Susan – https://lifelessonsandotherthingsthatgobump.wordpress.com/. She doesn’t have much on there yet – but I’m nagging her to add more. Dad wrote the first two, I think. Long story. He taught a Bible study in the local jail for years (all the men loved him). He was so sad when he had to stop due to his health, so Mom took some of the studies and turned them into blog posts. Mom’s writing is the third post – “Adopting my People.” She has some others that haven’t been transferred from Facebook yet. (My next project, if she doesn’t get there first!)
