Friends…Give it a Whirl

I have been having so much fun with the Give it a Whirl Dies. These dies aren’t exactly hidden, but you may have missed them, because they’re “stand alone” dies without a coordinating stamp set.

With these dies, you can cut the front of a card, a window, the “spinner” wheel, and so much more! Here’s a card I made using the Friends are Like Seashells Bundle.

Friends are like Seashells, Stampin' Up!, Give it a Whirl Dies

I cut the card front from the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the January-June Mini Catalog. I love the “sandy” look of this paper. Can’t you just feel the sand between your toes? If you love this paper, you need to order it today, because it will be retiring June 30 and is only available while supplies last.

Next, I cut the wheel from Basic White Cardstock. I traced where I wanted each image to be on the wheel very lightly in pencil. Then I stamped the starfish from the Friends are Like Seashells Bundle in Crumb Cake, as well as two other sets of shells. I masked the starfish, and added some seaweed behind it in Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink. I colored the starfish image with an Ivory Stampin’ Blend. Then I erased the pencil marks.

After I lined up the wedge-shaped window with the wheel, I cut the window from the DSP. You can add the window anywhere you want; I chose to place mine at the top. To put it together, simply add a brad through the top layer and wheel (don’t close it too tightly!) and use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the front up over the Evening Evergreen card base. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals helps the wheel to spin easier. You could even add another small layer behind the wheel for even greater ease.

To finish the card. I stamped the large shell in Blushing Bride Ink on a Basic White Seaside Seashells die-cut. I filled in the white spots with the Ivory Stampin’ Blend. I die-cut some of the seaweed from Evening Evergreen Cardstock, then added it behind the seashell. The sentiment, in Evening Evergreen Classic Ink, is from the Friends are Like Seashells Stamp Set.

If you are purchasing the stamp set or dies, you should definitely bundle them and save 10%. Here’s the good news: this bundle is not retiring, so not only can you purchase the Friends are Like Seashells Stamp Set and Seaside Seashells Dies from the new catalog, you can also still bundle them for another year! (Note: The numbers for many carry over products are different in the annual catalog than they were in the mini, so be sure to check for the correct number so you don’t get an error message.)

Give these dies a whirl! I promise, you could get addicted. I planned on making one card for Amelia, and I ended up with at least four.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
