Forever Fern in Silhouette

Forever Fern in Silhouette

I was preparing for a “Backgrounds” class today, and pulled out my Forever Fern Stamp Set and the coordinating Forever Flourishing Dies. I used the dies to create a background, but while I was working, I decided to create this.

Forever Fern, Stampin' Up!, Brilliant Wings

I created the background first. I sponged and blended Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, and Calypso Coral Classic Ink on Basic White Cardstock using the new Blending Brushes. Before I blended the Calypso Coral, I added a punched circle to the sky for the sun.

I stamped some of the greenery from the Forever Fern Stamp Set along the bottom half of the card using a Tuxedo Black Memento Pad, then blended a little So Saffron over the sun.

Because my Memento Pad is new, it’s very inky. So, of course, I smeared it a tad while I was adhering the stamped piece to the Basic Black Cardstock layer. No problem. I am a master at covering smears and mistakes! I die-cut one of the smallest butterfly outlines from the Butterfly Brilliance Dies and added it over the smear. Then I added it all to a Calypso Coral card base.

If it sounds like an easy card to make, it was! I’m not sure how I’m going to use it, but I’ll add the sentiment when I need it. This card was inspired by Glenda Mallet, another Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. She used dies for her silhouettes, but her card was gorgeous, so I had to C(opy) A(nd) S(hare) E(verything) it.

I think spring has come back to the Shenandoah Valley! It’s been warm – but not hot – the past several days, and it’s lovely! Today was my day to take Miss Amelia to school, so I checked my phone weather app while she was picking out her clothes. She usually wears tights or leggings under her school uniform when she wears jumpers, dresses, or skirts, but yesterday, she got fairly warm. Given the option today between shorts and leggings, she chose shorts. Of course, I always second guess when I look at the outside temps when I know she’s at recess. It was still in the lower 60’s until after lunch, so I hope she was warm enough. But then, this is the girl who is never cold, so I’m sure she was very comfortable. She loves being outside, and, fortunately, her school believes children should be outside as much as possible, so she’s happy!

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Such a pretty sky – one of my favourites! Don’t you love how mistakes are just opportunities to add an embellishment (or butterfly)? 😉
