Salty Seashells

Happy Monday, Crafty Friends! Mike & I spent the weekend at the mountains, and it has been fabulous! We’ve had lots of “R&R” time. Our town has a huge festival every May (usually the same weekend as the Kentucky Derby). It was canceled last year due to COVOD-19, but, except for parades, it was back on this year. I’m not sure how many out-of-towners attended the event was since there were no parades; mostly there were luncheons, a carnival, and other events for locals. Usually our small town swells to up to 400,000 people, so Mike & I always flee to the mountains.

Last Day To Order from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog; Join+, Connect, Craft, Collect, and the 2021-2022 Catalog Sales Period Begin Tomorrow

Don’t forget that today is the last day to order from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. The new 2021-2022 catalog launches April 4, and I can’t wait! And while many products from the 2020 Annual Catalog are carrying over, bundles (and bundle prices) will retire. You may still be able to order the stamps and dies (or punches) separately, but the 10% bundle discount will be gone. So place that last minute order to save some money!

Besides the catalog launch, the Join+ and Connect, Craft, Collect promotions also begin tomorrow. Seashells and Epsom Salt

Here’s a card that I had so much fun creating last week. I used the “Epsom Salt Technique” for the background. I mixed 1/4 cup boiling water with 1/4 cup Epsom Salt until the salt dissolved. Then I simply painted the salt solution on Crumb Cake Cardstock. It looked like sand on the beach when it dried, so I added some seashells.

I used the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set with the Seaside Seashells Dies and Seashells 3D Embossing Folder. First I die-cut the shells from Basic White Cardstock, then inked them with Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, and Pale Papaya Classic Ink, then ran them through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder. I cut some of the greenery two more times with Just Jade and Soft Succulent Cardstock. (Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya are two of the new In Colors for 2021-2023!) Good news – The Friends Are Like Seashells Bundle (stamp set and Seaside Seashells Dies) is carrying over from the January-June Mini Catalog to the 2021 Annual Catalog – and so is the bundle price! So if you order the stamps and dies together in the bundle, you’ll save 10%. The 3D Embossing Folder is also carrying over! It adds so much texture to the seashells; you’ll want to add it with your order!

Here’s a tip for adhering intricate die-cuts (like the sea grass) to a card. Add a binder clip to a Stamping Sponge wedge, then squirt some Multipurpose Liquid Glue into a small container. Use the sponge to pick up the liquid glue, then dab onto the back of the die-cut with the sponge. You will want to lay the die-cut on the Silicone Craft Sheet as you’re dabbing the glue on it so you don’t mess up your work area. So easy – and you don’t get glue on your fingers or all over your card. If your container is large enough and has a lid, you can simply leave the clipped sponge in it to use again.
