Daffodil & Mango Colors and Contour
Welcome back, my friends! I hope you had a fun and relaxing weekend! It seemed to fly by, but I definitely had a productive Monday. Mike & I have had a little “box garden” the past few years. And this year, I’m also attempting a garden at my mom’s. We’ll see how it goes. While my dad taught my brothers lots of gardening techniques, I was under my mom’s and grandmother’s wings, learning how to can and freeze what came out of the garden. Keep your fingers crossed that something will grow!
I’m happy to give you another sneak peek at the Color & Contour Stamp Set from the 2021-2022 Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog. I can’t wait until May 4, can you? There are so many things I want from the new catalog.
Color & Contour was a last minute addition to my preorder in April. and I’m so glad I added it. What a fun set. For now, I only have the stamp set, but there are dies that coordinate with the set.
For this card, I wanted to use a new (to me) technique. I have colored on stamps with Stampin’ Write Markers, and I’ve used the “thumping” technique, where you ink a stamp with a stamp pad, then “thump” on it with a darker Stampin’ Write Marker. For this card, I stamped the basic outline with a Tuxedo Black Memento Pad, then sponged ink on the stamp to fill in the color. I sponged Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody for the blossoms, but you can’t really tell. I think the spaces were too small to really get a good contrast. I’ll try again with a different stamp. Still, I like the way the flowers look.
After I added the color to the blossoms, I used a Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Marker to color the stem and leaves. I usually use Stampin’ Blends to color images, so it was fun to use Stampin’ Write Markers for a change.
I die-cut the image using the retiring Layering Ovals Dies. Oh, I am going to miss these dies, as they are retiring with the new catalog in May. I would suggest that you buy them and keep them forever, but they are already sold out and discontinued.
I decided to use a Mango Melody card base with a strip of Brights Designer Series Paper. This is the new design for the 6×6 Designer Series Paper (DSP) in all the Stampin’ Up!® Core and In Colors. The DSP in all the core colors and the 2020-2022 In Colors was a bonus for everyone who joined Stampin’ Up!® during the January-February Sale-a-bration. Current Demonstrators were able to preorder some (or all!) of these papers in December. I love the new designs, don’t you?
My sentiment, “sending a paper hug,” is from the Comfort & Hope Stamp Set. It’s a perfect sentiment for anyone you haven’t been able to physically hug for awhile. I am so looking forward to the day we can all be together again!
Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!
