“Mystery Parts” Challenge with Butterfly Bijou

Welcome back, my crafty friends! First – I found out what caused the gibberish after the headline on my blog Friday. It was my cat, believe it or not. They like to sit on my keyboard, and I had left my laptop open for a few minutes while I was editing my blog on Thursday. Somehow they got in and changed the settings. It took some work, but they managed it.

On a side note, does anyone need a cat? Just kidding. They are very entertaining and fun, and as frustrating as they can be, we would miss them if they weren’t around.

This month, our local Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators started a challenge that Susan has been doing with her team. Each month, one of us gives everyone a card base and a card stock layer, designer series paper, and embellishments. Each of us uses the same materials to make a card. We can add other products, and we don’t have to use all of each product, but we do need to use each product. For example, if we get five embellishments, we don’t have to use them all, but we do need to use at least one.

Here are the products I sent this month.

My pack included Mango Melody Cardstock, Basic Black Cardstock, Opal Rounds, and Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper (DSP). Sadly, this paper was so popular, it has already sold out. Since it was only a limited release, it won’t be returning. But – since the Butterfly Brilliance is an early release from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, hopefully there will be something similar to this paper in the catalog as well. crossing fingers I also included some die-cut vellum butterflies – using the Brilliant Wings Dies – as an optional add-on.

This is my card.

I cut the DSP at an angle, leaving a space between the two pieces to heat emboss the sentiment from the Many Mates Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I also colored the Opal Rounds with Stampin’ Blends before adding them to the centers of the butterflies.

Christy is the only one to use the Basic Black Cardstock for the front of the card. Very striking, don’t you think? And if you’re wondering where the DSP is, look closely at the butterflies.

And here are Carol’s cards. She made the second after our demonstrator Make & Take, using a die-cut butterfly from the meeting in place of one of the vellum ones.
