A Cut Above Color Challenge

A Cut Above Color Challenge

Welcome to our latest Stamp Off! Challenge. Today we have a color challenge for you.

These colors were fun to work with. I had several ideas, but since I haven’t used the A Cut Above Stamp Set a lot, I decided to go with that.

A Cut Above, Stampin' Up!

This card only uses stamps, ink, and paper, so it’s pretty simple.

First, I stamped the lawn mower guy and the sun images in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then I colored them with Stampin’ Blends. I used Night of Navy for the jeans and Cajun Craze for the cap and mower. We don’t have a Bumblebee Stampin’ Blend, so I used a Bumblebee Stampin’ Write Marker to color the sun.

Here’s where I deviated a bit from the challenge. I added Crumb Cake and Cinnamon Cider for the man’s shirt, Granny Apple Green for the grass, Ivory and Crumb Cake for skin tones, Smoky Slate for his hair, Basic Black for the mower bag, and Crumb Cake for his shoes. This was fun for me, because I love to color. (I also like to fussy cut, so I’m really weird, I guess.)

I never noticed this until I started coloring. There’s grass flying up at the front of the mower. I know this happens, but there’s also a bag on the mower. There should not be grass flying around unless Mr. Mowing Guy needs to empty his bag. I get it. I hate to empty the mower bag. Mike was so crazy busy last summer, I took over the mowing duties. It was good exercise and kind of fun. It looks like that will continue this year as well. My son Jon mowed a few times, but he has his own home to take care of, so I tried to get to our lawn before he did.

I love the sentiment on the card – “You make the world look better and the grass look greener.” So many people fit that description. I stamped it in Night of Navy Classic Ink. Then I sponged a little Balmy Blue for sky. It was very light; you can’t see it as well in the photo, but it’s there.

The Basic White layer is adhered to a Night of Navy layer, then to a Granny Apple Green card base. I should have used Bumblebee or Cajun Craze to really keep to the color challenge, but I love Night of Navy and Granny Apple Green together.

Before you head out for the day, please check Susan’s and Jackie’s blogs to see what they have created with these colors. I always enjoy their blogs, and I’m sure you will love what they have today.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day!

Buffy, this is so darling. It’s a perfect choice for these colors. I love the way you’ve positioned the sentiment to make the perfect guy card.

I know it is kind of strange because I never noticed this stamp set. It is very cute. I can just imagine you mowing the grass while singing (although he looks like he is whistling). Very cute!

Very cute card! My husband never sings or whistles while mowing the grass (there are some swear words flung about….poor neighbours!)
