Rainbow Valentine

Rainbow Valentine

It’s no secret that I love glitter. I just love the sparkle and the shimmer and the “wow!” Glimmer Paper is amazing, because you get all the sparkle and shimmer without any mess. Currently, the Glimmer Paper at Stampin’ Up! is Rainbow. It’s so lovely.

Look at those gorgeous colors! I had to make a shimmery Valentine with this paper.

Word Wishes, Stampin' Up!

First, I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the Glimmer Paper. Then I die-cut the hearts from the Granny Apple Green card base and the Glimmer Paper using the Be Mine Stitched Dies. I added the “negative” piece of the Glimmer Paper to the front of the card and the die-cut heart on the inside.

I die-cut the sentiment from Basic White Cardstock using the Word Wishes Dies. The hardest part of this card was adhering the apostrophe and the dot for the “i” in “Valentine’s.” Make sure you save these pieces when you release the die-cut words from the die!

Now that Miss Amelia knows about my blog, she makes sure to ask me to post her artwork on it. For the past couple of weeks in her art class at school, they’ve been using oil pastels. She had such fun with them the first week, so I bought at set for us to use here. In this week’s class, they covered white card stock with the pastels, making sure to leave no white spots. Their teacher, Ms. Abi (Abigail Gomez), is going to paint over the paper with black paint. When it dries, they’ll have homemade “scratchers.”

We (meaning “I”) couldn’t wait to play with the scratcher, so we made smaller versions today. We covered Whisper White Cardstock with the oil pastels, then painted with black acrylic paint. Here’s how they turned out.

Of course, she and her cookie eating unicorn also had to be in the photo. I started the card on the right, but she finished it. The card on the left is hers. She wanted all the black scratched off except at the top where she left a message. We had so much fun! We always have too little time to do all the fun things we want to do.

Thanks for stopping by Stamping with Buffy. Have a lovely day.

Your card is sooooo pretty! Just lovely and I like the way you isolated part of the Glimmer paper. And then there are the homemade scratchers! Respect to Amelia’s teacher

I love that glimmer paper. I have a few posts coming up using it. I will have to try the paint technique with the grands!

I like it too! Some of my favorite colors are in there. Note about the “scratchers” – Do it over scrap paper so you can catch the paint when it’s scratched off. I learned this several minutes in…
